Why? Just use straps, there's no rule against using straps if you're not competing in power lifting. No need to sacrifice your back training for the sake of your grip. Just pull DOH until it prevents you completing a set and then strap up to finish the session. Loads of things you can do to improve grip.

Because I believe in improving on my weaknesses until I'm sure I can't improve any other way before would start using straps. But in all honesty, I'm not very experienced and may be naive...

it'sa fine line imo - as for most people their backs will be stronger than their grips asnd it seems a waste to sacrifuce your back development for your grip...

maybe do some additional forearm work?
watch this guy's videos - he's done at least 2 videos on forearm development...

I'm a massive fan of him and AthleanX. His YouTube channel is definitely worth subscribing to.

You're just swapping your weaknesses around, as somebody whose grip is better than his deadlift it's a right royal nuisance. The point of deadlifting is to develop your posterior chain, your grip will improve as you get stronger. If it bothers you, do some farmers, plate holds, deadlift holds, there's loads you can do after deads for grip.

I'm not really suffering from it at the moment, but I have experienced a weakness in the wrists but your post I think exemplifies my thinking of it. However if I find its holding me back then I'll be working on my grip strength.
I'm also going to chuck in a few pullups into my daily life do I'm sure this will help improve my grip do it doesn't lag behind my deadlift.
Big day tomorrow, I'm due a 100kg deadlift.
Not bad setting as I started this on 19th August, 3 weeks ago, and its only my 6th deadlift set! Putting it down on paper like that really puts in perspective how potent the 5x5 system is!

It's a very simple concept, man can't hold object, man uses straps, man holds on. Don't let your ego stop you getting stronger, that's the whole point of the exercise
