I was always told by my Physio and quacks, to use cold on my back when it's sore, never use hot.

Ooh really? Any reason why?

Yeah i get that, it'd just be nice to change it to 60 secs so i can put my phone away straight after ticking off the exercise so the alarm goes off and i can crack on rather than having to stare at my phone until it hits 60 seconds, stop it then put my phone back in my pocket (as i like to listen to music when i train) then starting the exercise.. I know it's only a minor thing but thought it'd be a good option IMO...

As per the Stronglifts web site:

If you’ve done the Squat, Bench and Deadlift before, with good technique, you can start with 50% of your five rep max. If you’ve never done these exercises, or you haven’t lifted in years, or you have no idea what I mean with a “five reps max”, just start with these weights:

Squat, Bench Press, Overhead Press: 20kg/45lb. That’s the empty Olympic bar.

Deadlift: 40kg/95lb. The empty bar with a plate of 10kg/25lb on each side.

Barbell Row: 30kg/65lb. The empty bar with 5kg/10lb on each side.

You should indeed start heavier on the Deadlift and Barbell Row because you can’t do these exercises holding an empty bar in the air. The weight should rest on the floor at the start of each rep, so start with weight on the bar.

Ping an email to the guy who maintains it, it might get added as a feature. There is a beta version out at the moment and its always being looked at new things to improve it (if you have Googleyou can join the beta tester group)

After a 2 month break, I've decided to start the 5x5 from scratch to concentrate on form. Started with just the bar on Monday, taking reps nice and slow. It feels like a big regression (I was up to squatting ~80kg) but I'm in no hurry and am happy just to ease myself back into things. Would prefer to know I'm getting it right than overshoot too early. Feels good to have that pleasant ache from using my muscles again!
