After having my Tiger 800 since Feb and my Yamaha XVS650 dying completely on me I've missed my cruiser style bike.

Therefore the Tiger got traded in and am picking this up next Friday

A nice little Victory Hammer S //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/clap.gif                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/OTAwWDEyMDA=/z/GAkAAOxyKsZRyv72/$T2eC16Z,!)cE9s4Pudo(BRyv72!bcw~~60_12.JPG&hash=3eba7bdd08f904369b73df49bf56d50c

Some nice bikes posted here. My previous ride was sold back in April and since I've been riding my bicycle and running everywhere due to trraining for various triathlons this summer. Looking to get back into rider again and whilst initially wanting a Triumph Tiger 800, I've decided to get another Ducati and now looking for a clean 796. Does anyone know or have one they're looking to shift? Happy to wait until after the summer toodata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

My previous ride;

What was yours mate, the S2r? Have you thought about an S4RS? The last proper Monster data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Here's mine -

                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://i.imgur.com/NtGwL.jpg&hash=dcad6d943a77693cc1c15a19892bbef2

Just about to press go on a Big Bore 924cc kit.

Woohoo, a sports bike! //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/clap.gif

I was looking at getting a 999 soon, but have moved onto either an 848 or an Aprilia RSV (the last of the twins model, not the RSV4).
My Ducati loving mate is naturally pushing me towards the 848.
Presumably yours is the 'dark' model?
Don't think they did an 848 dark, unfortunately.

davidg1230 Publish time 24-11-2019 22:36:15

Yes, mine was an S2r 800.

Nice 749 too, did consider one of these quite recently but to be honest it's probably too hardcore and won't do my wrists and back any good! plus not really a good commuter either??

The dark models were matt black though, not gloss?

Again, an 848 would be lovely but really not my style and prefer the more naked, upright riding positions of a Monster. don't really want a 696 'entry level' Monster as I know it won't be the same at my old S2R, so looking at getting a 796 which i know will suit my needs perfectly. A S4RS are lovely too, just need soemthing a bit more useable

I think you're right, I think the 'dark' model 749s were Matt black.
I've yet to try an 848 for size.
I sympathise with the aches and pains thing, my 46 year old body objects to sportsbikes too.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
My trouble is I'm not willing to compromise.
I'd rather give up bikes than give up sports bikes.
My mates say I'm daft, but that's the way it is, I can't ever see me riding an upright bike (unless I'm riding offroad etc.)
I'll force my body to accept them until I physically can't any more.
Mates were speaking to a 60YO bloke who rides a Desmosedici, so there's hope for me yet.

I'm assuming you've ridden naked/uprights before then? I scared the life out of me riding a Triumph Speed Triple R a few years back and that only had 107bhpdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I'm sure you could find a big bore naked bike that would tick all the thrill boxes?

I guess it's what your're used to but I think around London where I live, a bike with 80bhp is more than enough me (and the fact I've only been riding for 5 years and into my 40's too)

My riding buddy has just got himself a BMW 800 GS and I was looking for a Triumph Tiger 800 so we could go on day trips together but the Adventure bike sector seems really popular at the moment and prices are stupidly high. Everyone wants to be a Charley B or Ewan McGdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I've ridden loads of naked bikes, but the last naked/upright riding position bike I owned was an RD350LC!
Since then, it's all been sporty bikes with lean forward riding positions (to varying degrees)
I just don't like the vague/disconnected feeling you get from upright riding positions, especially as speeds increase.
You're sort of assuming/hoping what the front is doing, rather than feeling it.
I would consider something like a DRZ400 for short commuting and odd road use though.
I agree with power, between 100bhp and 120 bhp is plenty.
Hence the fact I'm looking at an 848 and not a 1098.
