Oh dear, you sound like a fanboy (HTC/other)

What on earth are you talking about? They've just announced a new high-end PC VR headset with increased resolution and better lenses for $399. It also has better tracking than the various WVR headsets due to having three extra cameras.

Now it may not be as high in resolution as the Vive Pro and Pimax but it's still a high end PC VR headset.

I'm going to wait on reviews to see what the tracking is like before I get one but it sounds pretty good to me.

Was Irebe a fanboy for quiting Oculus when he did?

I don’t think this is even Quest lite. It’s more GO .

Welcome to the world of Atmos lol

Well let’s keep the personal attacks down please. This is about Oculus and Rift S.

Why did he quit?

Atmos Publish time 2-12-2019 05:37:54

Not my world. A world of Rifters criticised Pimax when their 8k model was limited to 80hz. Now it’s all come back to bite Rifters asses.

I’m talking about facts how,

Oculus abandons the Rift.
Oculus abondons Constellation.
Oculus abondons 90hz.
Oculus abandons dual screens.
Oculus abandoned over ear headphones.
Oculus abandons OLED.
Oculus abondons wide FOV.

I’m a VR enthusiast and I was excited to see what Rift S was going to be but it’s a huge disappointment which ever camp you come from.

Though it's got five cameras that doesn't necessarily make for better tracking than the WMR. If two cameras get the job done, they get the job done.

It's cheap and ditching constellation for inside-out tracking is a great move. Though offering up an 'affordable' and 'mainstream' HMD that still needs an enthusiast GPU seems daft.

No plans for wireless is disappointing. Stepping down from 90 to 80Hz is disappointing. I could definitely feel a difference between my 90Hz Vive and my 75Hz DK2 and that feeling was often nausea!

The resolution bump isn't even keeping up now thanks to Pimax and HP, so not very exciting.

It doesn't offer anything of what I want from a next gen HMD, so I'm disappointed. Though I'm not trying to sell VR hardware, so what do I know? Compromises have clearly been made to achieve that price and I suspect some commonality with the Quest.

got to be honest here @thesnowdog i am seeing some double standards mate.when htc released the vive pro you were dissapointed at how poor the improvement wasand suggested oculus would never be so daft as to release a rift 1.5... and it seems that is exactly what they have done :/
@Atmosyou say you are dissapointed and not gloating... the fact your posted like 10 (a guess) posts in short shift rather than 1, each one with your perceived downside certainly looks more like gloating than an attempt at genuine discourse.

My view....... dissapointed to be honest.
it is not all bad, its cheap, all accounts say the tracking is great, and who am i to argue having not tried it and will mean usb issues for some will be a thing of the past. having a full RGB display is great and i am convince with the new lenses visuals are going to be a big step up over all.

but the reduction to 80hz, LED instead of OLED and 1 screen instead of 2 and no IPD adjustment? (1 screen instead of 2 means wasted pixels in all likelyhood and i would bet money in a reduction in FOV, and that my friends will be the killer for me if it is the case.

over all i think it sounds 2 steps forward, 1 step back. hardly what i was hoping for after over 3 years.
Am not saying i will never buy one, if my rift fails i may still do but i aint going to be rushing out to get one that is for sure, and if valve can bring something decent to the table with knuckles ii can see me jumping ship.

I find it hard to believe anyone who thought the vivepro was a misstep can honestly be excited by the rift S if they are being honest with themselves imo.
