I think it would be cool and impressive, but I am sceptical that you will be able to efficiently control the game and whether it will just be too draining.

The tech seems like it requires a lot of concentration and can be overwhelming for long term use (over an hour). Time will tell.

Have a look at this to get an idea...

It is a pre-release, so not quite finished yet.

Yeah, its not really a top down game like Dota though and in TBH that didn't look to play well at all (most of it was spent looking down).

Think they are games i'd have to try myself rather than look at a video of it to get a good feel but they aren't the type of games I see doing to well. The VR for me has got to be about the first person perspective.

We tried a lot of stuff. The only ones I can name are elite, project cars and alienisolation.

It was at a Christmas party and honestly not one other person at the party was that impressed. My friend was quite taken back that everyone else was so meh about it.

Sorry but no interest from me.

People need to realise that the applications for something like this are huge, it's not just games and certainly not just "now I can feel like I'm putting a bullet in someones face in COD!".

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this taking off in certain physical activities, like physiotheraphy, psychotherapy, spacial awareness, simulation training, etc.

Since I got my DK2 last week ive hardly put it down lol. Ive mainly been playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 and its something I never thought I would like. Everyone Ive showed has been amazed by it too. It may not be everyones cup of tea though and a couple of people I showed it too felt a bit sick after not too long.

I completely agree that the uses go much further than gaming. I think it could be an excellent educational platform. As someone who has to fly quite a lot it could be a real bonus people who struggle to sleep on long haul flights.

I put in a couple of long stints in the DK2 over the weekend, around 6 hours without a break at one point. Can't say I felt any the worse for wear, a bit light headed but think I probably would if I'd spent that long racing in front of a monitor.

Looking forward to a more comfortable fit and better accomodation for glasses in the CV1.

@Thug that Mythos of the World Axis is exactly what I'm talking about.

The 1st person for VR seems obvious but not actually moving around, not experiencing physical feedback, not actually holding a weighty sword / gun, etc. is a problem. The third person makes everything more real but leaves the player as an observer, meaning the gamepad you're holding still makes sense, actual movement being limited to moving in / out still makes sense (and doesn't induce nausea).

As cool as it sounds, I don't think we really want to be the guy swinging the sword and limit the gameplay possibilities due to being an ordinary human with no training and muscle fatigue. We want to be directing the super hero of legend to expertly and swiftly carve up the monsters.

Has anybody else been invited to the EVE Valkyrie alpha? I got an email yesterday.
