Mike and other dk2 users.. I've just watched this and been blown away yet again!!....

Have you had any experience with virtual desktop at all over development phase? Of course the resolution won't be perfect but that looks impressive to say the least, especially the theatre modes.

I used Virtual Desktop with my DK2. Its very good but the lower res made text legibility a challenge. And when watching media, the apparent resolution taking up only a portion of half the 1080 screen meant the clarity was nowhere near what that youtube clip would suggest.

As far as using your Windows Desktop in VR though, very useful!

alleged comparison of FOV of different HMDs

FOV Comparison

i gotta admit those shots have got me worried....... DK2 FOV was ok, but IF those shots are legit, CV1 is a step back, and vive is 2 steps forward.

I really want to get the CV1 over VIVE...... but if those shots are correct I have a big decision to make... roll on reliable confirmed comparisons between the 2.

Same here...I hope those aren't legit. If they are then Vive looks to be a huge improvement over the Rift...but pre-release reports don't tend to suggest they are a true representation of what you see?

hopefully we will get people on here posting once they get theirs!.

People really must have deep pockets or just stupid to pay those prices.

Having briefly tried a Rift DK2 and been left unimpressed, the media and internet hype since has made this whole VR thing sound like the greatest human achievement since the first moon landing. So over Easter I was shopping in central London with the missus and by chance got the opportunity to queue up and try the Vive (it was that or more women's cloths shops so wasn't a tough decision).

In all honesty, and I'll keep this short, I still don't get it. Completely "meh" to me. Someone else in the queue was going on about how great it will be for movies? Seriously? For me, watching movies is a sociable experience (unless very rarely I'm watching by myself). So why would I want to sit there with silly goggles on? Absolutely no chance. Ever. Perhaps if I was single and lived alone I would feel differently and perhaps that's the issue - I'm just getting too old to care about any of this now. Bear in mind though, that I've never owned a Bluray player (DVD quality is more than enough for me), and would never have dreamed of buying a 3D TV so maybe I'm just not the target audience.

You haven't mentioned if you game. I think that aspect is its primary use and hence target audience. What did you try on the DK2?
