It could also encourage other members who don't really frequent GC to show their faces. It is certainly something anyone and everyone will have an opinion on!

If you voted no and any of the arguments have made you think again, please revisit the poll. Or if you haven't voted, please take a moment.

Thanks all.

I don't think new members are going to join an AV website for its food forum. People will join the site for AV. If you wanted food forums there's probably dedicated ones already.

I don't see the point. It's an AV website. There's General Chat for stuff that isn't AV related. I belong to a few other forums and I'm on there because they are dedicated sites.

To be honest you could apply the argument to anything. Should we have a gardening forum? Should we have a fishing forum? Should we have a decorating forum? Repeat ad infitum. Your argument applies to the lot.

I didn't join because it was an AV forum but my specific search brought me here. I wandered around and liked what I saw so joined ....

Well, perhaps you wouldn't actually seek it out, but might find it on google if a post hit your search criteria.

You wouldn't necessarily find yourself looking for general chat on an AV forum either. It just so happens that you get sucked in for one reason, but discover other branches. I never even ventured here until after a long time being a member and frequenting other parts of the forum.

The main thrust was because it was a unisex topic and might encourage (or not discourage perhaps) female members.

This done? Banal ads it is then. Who wants to talk about food when there are miracle cures for obesity or free ipads.

I cannot remember the last time I visited an AV part of the forum. I generally ready the PC Gaming forum and general chat with some digital photography

You are taking this very personally.I probably post in foody threads as much if not more than anyone else. But having a separate forum for it isn't a big issue for me.I very much doubt it could become a new social hub for the internet that will do away with the need for adverts that you seem to think it might. Unfortunately.

blue max Publish time 26-11-2019 05:26:51

Not personally, but certainly disappointed that it was not embraced. This was really a very minor change in the great scheme of things and was surely worth the attempt. I was not expecting it to break any records, but are there other plans to attract more women in the pipeline?

What you could be sure of is that it would have had far more interest than some of the sub forums that are virtually barren. EG the Blackberry Phones whose last post was in February.

But as I have mentioned, I am not particularly passionate about food. More the unisex aspect and potential to bring new blood to the forum. And we had a mod offer their services too. All it needed was the will to make it happen. But if it isn't there then so be it.
