No from me. I enjoy reading some of them, but would never go into a dedicated sub-forum unless I had a specific question.

I feel the same about a lot of the sub forums, like parenting and holidays - I browse then occasionally and think 'oh, I could have answered that'.

A lot of these things would be better categorised with tagging. Then you could view them generally in GC, and have a view for Food if you want. And similarly a view that excludes it.

P.s. will actually vote when next at a PC.

Seems the biggest threat to its existence is GC. And then because people don't wish to make an additional click. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Don't forget it might be more significant if it had its own home. You may not feel you want to go there daily, but if it had enough content to entice you, it may be worth keeping an eye on.

If we are considering a platform for bringing new members in, then surely it makes more sense to have it all under an umbrella forum. Non-members with an interest in Food and Drink may not Google barbeques or burger bars.

It seems to be the individual posts that get picked up by search engines. Once they find the forum, they can look around and see if it has the sort of content that interests them. They may have found a food post in GC, but may be disappointed there is not so much of it. Or are uncomfortable with some of the content. The variety may not appeal to all.
Perhaps landing in a food forum would keep their interest and encourage return visits and potentially new members.
All speculation of course.
Finally, there have been some interesting food threads on GC over the years, but it is not easy to find them. EG one on regional foodstuffs from around the UK. It may be easier to find if it were in the single forum.

I just googled Food forum took awhile to find one aimed at the public then Jamie Oliver's was the first but if you register you do get a wine voucher.

Just having a look through the forums and I notice an e-cigarettes one just below the health and fitness one. I do think a Food and Drink one wouldn't be out of place as it is a life style topic.
I know it has nothing to do with AV, but does that really matter as there are loads of other things that are not about AV in here.
Could there be additional advertising opportunities for the site? Obviously this would not be something that would happen quickly.
Thinking about it and there could be threads for voucher codes and discounts or special offers.

Oh and then we could have a Chinese take away section so I no longer have to order the exact same thing as I have done for years data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
EDIT: I have now stopped ordering Chicken balls data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7    data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

To some extent, with it being an AV forum, there is probably have a typical member in mind. It is likely to be male, with long, rather greasy hair and ready to bore the pants off anyone who is unfortunate to be within earshot!

Now as we know, we're not like that at all data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

It would need a change of perceptions to encourage women. Much like mumsnet might not be the natural home for a male.

But with more unisex content, it may start to break down the boundaries.

How about 'Food, drink and kitchen gadgets'

I like gadgets data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
