Well, that's how I treat it. Splitting hairs really, I guess.

Bottom line is I've shed a few pounds and feel better for it. And, so far, it hasn't been a chore.

I'm doing alternate day fasting. On fasting days I will eat a bowl of porridge for breakfast. Have yoghurt and fruit for lunch, then later on have a boiled egg and toast. Not sure if this exceeds 500 cals, but what I have found is that I'm eating a lot less food generally. On my non-fasting days I don't go crazy.

In terms of excercise, I play squash at least twice a week, which is a terrific cardio workout, and also do a swim session.

I lost about 4kg in 3 weeks, and now down to my ideal BMI. I don't really want to lose more weight.

Lost 1 pound this week so I've lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks.

I have changed my training this week, I've dropped the cardio down and increased the weights. I've also purchased a power rack/cage and a 105kg 7ft olympic barbell set

Worth remembering that the "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" diet is not about increasing muscle mass - it's actually about consuming less protein. It is designed to reduce IGF-1 levels (insulin-like growth factor). It may also reduce your total muscle mass. When not fasting, you should be aiming to maximise your vitamin and nutritional intake in accordance with the recommended guidelines.

If people are just looking for a weight loss diet, don't fast. Instead just reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories per day, and ensure your exercise levels exceed your calorie intake.

If your are losing weight too rapidly, lighten up on your regime.

That's my advice, anyway!

I've been watching the fasting twins on youtube I won't post any links because of the bad language.

I know that some people don't like them and the advice that they give but I find them quite motivating and hilarious

I've also been reading about Leangains
The Leangains Guide | Intermittent fasting diet for fat loss, muscle gain and health

Again very motivating and good advice

Wow. I started this 3 weeks ago or so now, and have noticed a big difference already.

I'm doing (fasting) 3 days a week at the moment, and on the days that I excercise too.

So Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday i'll have 3 meals, with dinner about 7pm. Then Monday, Wednesday and Friday I'll have nothing until dinner (24 hours later), with a ~1000 calorie workout around 5pm (based on heart rate monitor so pretty accurate).

Feeling good. Very good. At first it was hard not eating, but I can honestly say not eating hasn't affected my workout at all. In fact my times are faster!

Doing 2/3 fast days a week at the moment. Just looking to lose a few pounds. Going well so far have not measured myself as my scales are broken but had to put a new hole in my belt!

If nothing else its made me eat a lot more salad trying to fill myself up with less calories. Best meal is breaded chicken cut into thin strips with loads of salad.

What I'm doing is generally not eating all day then having a meal in the evening as I can't sleep if I'm too hungry!

To those of you that this is working out well for, do you think it's actually the fasting times that are helping or just that you are watching what you eat far more closely and probably consuming fewer calories?

I was already watching what I ate.

I did low carb earlier in the year and was just constantly tired. Even though I lost a stone, I found myself tired all the time so had to stop although I was still trying to eat healthily.

I have been doing this diet for a couple of weeks now and am finding it a lot easier than i thought. I have discovered that a tin of Heinz Big Soup only has 200 calories and is very filling so no breakfast, one of those for lunch and then a chicken breast and salad for tea is no great hardship. I already drank loads of water anyway.

I have lost 5 pounds in a couple of weeks.

Is it down to the 2 fast days or just that I am eating less overall?

Who knows but I am finding this diet to be easy which means I should be able to stick to it. It's also flexible enough to fit in with my lifestyle (I travel a lot so often find myself eating unhealthy food, late at night in a hotel).

So you could be right but in any case, it is working so I am happy to stick with it.

I have had Chinese, McDonalds, kebabs etc. And I've still lost weight. On the fast days I'm careful but on the other days I'm really not!
