There's some interesting comments in here relating to the timing of fasting....
As an example, I had a roast dinner Sunday evening (7.00-ish) and then only had a cup of Redbush tea during the evening. Went to bed, then "fasted" all day Monday (600 cals) and then had my normal breakfast (sugar-free muesli with yoghurt) for breakfast today (7.30-ish).
So, when did my "fast" start? On the face of it, it looks like about 36 hours in total, even though I was only planning to do a one-day fast (repeating on Thursday).
I can see the logic of the comments surrounding the "18:6" diet, because, on the face of it, it does sound like just skipping breakfast. But, I guess if it works, then that's great.
What is interesting for me, and quite a lot of people who contribute to the EFL2 Facebook group, is how much more aware I am of what I eat on my "normal" days. What I thought would happen is I'd go nuts - especially the day after a 2-day fast, but I don't. On my "normal" days I don't think I go anywhere near 2000 cals even. Although I'm still convinced the bulk of the weight-loss I've had (9lbs in 3 weeks) is down to limiting my alcohol intake to weekends. |
