There was a team working on it and then it went dark. Either Valve took them under their wing or they gave up lol.
Just my musing
Boneworks - SLZ
PortalVR - Cloudhrad Games
Halflife 2 - Indie Dev
HLVR - Valve
Steam2.0 - Valve
Budget Cuts 2 is coming Dec 12th.

Yup and we should get all those games by 2022 I’d say.

Ravenholm really would live up to its reputation in VR.
I played HL2 in VR back in the day but i was just getting to that level when support was removed.

I saw that someone had Half Life 2 with hand tracking going on the Oculus subreddit the other day, don't think it was Wormslayer and his group though.
I REALLY hope I'm wrong about Valve and their games, but given how often Valve have let us all down in the past I'm not getting my hopes up yet again to have them dashed again.
I still haven't forgiven them for not making Half Life 2 VR available on day one of the Rift and Vive launching or even SINCE then.
And it's a crazy business decision for them not to have done it. They could have done the work in a matter of 6 months given that most of the work had already been done before they removed it. And whilst people would have moaned about the price, they could have sold it for £30/$30 and sold a sh*tload of copies of the game.
They just haven't done it because they've become too fudgeing LAZY due to getting sh*tloads of money without much effort through software sales and trading card stuff. They even stopped curating games on Steam in 2012, letting any old crap on there.

Yup. Me too. I reckon it will be a 20-30 hour epic AAA game which makes full utilisation of the Index controllers. I feel like it will show us exactly why the Index controllers are what they are and why they are superior and game-changing to the way we approach games (outside of just being an elastic grip which lets us not hold onto them whilst playing).
I'm imaging crazy stuff happening. Like we need to stick one of our fingers into a hole and twist it, rock paper scissors, holding stuff with our thumb and pinky fingers.. hm... just because... and like maybe we have to put a ring on a specific finger too.

My fear with Valve is can they still make good games.
Its been a while since Portal 2 and Half Life 2. The game Valve releases needs to absolutley destroy Lone Echo, Asgards Wrath and Stormland IMO. It needs to pave the way for why their vision of VR is best and why the Index is worth the price they charge.
I still think their best bet is to actually release a multiplayer game like TF2 rather than a single player game. As nice as a AAA game is, a VR overwatch would just make so much more sense to provide longevity to their VR library and the multiplayer playerbase on SteamVR is leagues ahead of Oculus's.

So it was true. Valve have spent over 3 years with 50 Valve employees developing what will go down as the defining VR game of our generation.
All the doubters and nay sayers we’re wrong.
A game of this scale and ambition wasn’t going to be thrown together in six months.
The trailer looks fantastic and we’ve seen a frenzy of VR purchases for this game alone. And I think this will only grow with time as the March deadline closes in.
The level of detail shown in the trailer looks superior to any other game yet released. The lighting, the movable objects, the interaction, the story and character interaction are all top draw. The trailer didn’t disappoint. All this for 15 plus hours. And all this dedicated to VR.
There are only two negatives I can see. The first is will Alyx being VR only and anyone whose waited for a new HL game is forced to by VR to play. Although Valve did a good job explaining how it’s too hard to Port all those interactions to Mouse and Keyboard. The second is the lack of arms as shown in the trailer. Floating hand is just a no no in 2020.
Roll on March.

What about valves 2019 game you said will be released in December?

I guess Valve wanted/needed more time to get more Indexes sold. By the looks of it that plan worked. Giving 4 months notice means 4 months of hype and 4 months of hardware sales. Releasing Alyx in December would of been a mistake. Index needs more time to grow it’s user base.
Let’s not forget Boneworks gets released on December 12. All’s good.
