Valves new game Q4 2019?
So Kerry Davis who works at Valve is doing a talk on the 14th September. One of the things he’s talking about is Valves current flagship project, yes that mythological game announced by GabeN some years ago.
This talk is 11 days before OC6. So it’s entirely possible we COULD see the official reveal on the 14th. That gives the press 11 days to do their reviews and 11 days of internet overload before an official release to coincide with OC6 on the 25th. Possible? I Hope so!.
(but at this point i just want that half life 2 VR mod.......) Well I'm not going to get my hopes up. If I expect another collection of tech demos I won't be disappointed if/when it happens and will be overjoyed if they surprise me and release a full game of some sort. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 It would be prudent marketing to release a title around OC6. After all oculus users account for over 50% of the participating SteamVR users. And I’m pretty sure what ever it is it will support all the leading hardware.
I’m hopeful for a portal / half-life variant looking forward to it. i need an excuse to jump into vr. I believe the rumours that’s its going to be a Half Life prequel with Alex Vance as the main protagonist.
As for VR I think we now have enough content for anyone to justify the cost. I would be ok with a HL prequel but would far prefer a HL2 remake, WITH the ending added in - as in episode 3.
As for having enough content to justify the cost, obviously it is all subjective and depends on what you want out of a headset or which headset you are buying, but i have been in that position for many years.
i must have 60 VR titles (perhaps more) in my library over half of which i have never even touched. I'm really concerned this is gonna be a VR version of their crap card game. i am so sad that nibre (alien mother mod and the HL2 VR update) seems to have fallen off the planet. I have not seen any twitter posts since july and even those were nothing to do with HL2 or alien isolation in vr.
Part of me wonders if Valve have either paid him to back off OR have employed him... which could have the silver lining of course of meaning that a valve produced HL2VR game could come out. Yeah I remember when a HLVR version was green lit on Steam but then went dark. Pure speculation but what if Valve took them on and are working on an official update of all HL games?
There are rumours for an October relaunch of SteamVR.
