Vanishing Realms went quiet for a long time then suddenly re-appeared with a wonderful update. It gives me hope for these other things that have gone quiet.

thesnowdog Publish time 2-12-2019 05:13:20

Like I've said before I'm not getting my hopes up. I did that with the launch of these headsets in 2016. Fool me once etc etc etc.

I'm expecting The Lab 2 and that's it. Nothing to do with Half Life, Left 4 Dead or Portal because that's what EVERYONE wants and those ******s at Valve seem to enjoy building people's hopes up and then pissing all over them.

Atmos Publish time 2-12-2019 05:13:21

You mean like Index and Knuckles? Lol #sarcasm

huxley Publish time 2-12-2019 05:13:22

Well the index didn't have a lot of hype but is undoubtedly a great bit of kit.
The knuckles on the other hand had multiple iterations and lots of teases and were still released (and still are) substandard.
I`m still hopeful Valve will release a budget version forgoing some of the finger tracking and touch pad.

Back on Topic HalfLife 3 confirmed!
Recent Valve VR update contains hidden Half-Life demo code

HL3 would be amazing..... but i would need to play and complete HL2 again 1st as i cant remember the story and it ends on a cliff hanger.....

best do HL2 in VR so i hope that comes 1st, but perhaps with a big HL3 marketing campaign supporting its launch.

huxley Publish time 2-12-2019 05:13:23

I think that was meant to be part of an old lab demo tbh.

thesnowdog Publish time 2-12-2019 05:13:23

Seriously, stop talking about Half Life 2 VR/Half Life 3/Half Life Prequel and getting yourselves excited. It isn't going to happen. I would LOVE to be wrong about this but wise money would be on NONE of these EVER happening.

Valve are too busy reaping the rewards of Steam software purchases to be bothered about developing anything other than tech demos like The Lab.

MikeKay1976 Publish time 2-12-2019 05:13:24

I am not getting excited. That went years ago. Just wishful thinking from me at least (at the same kind of hope level as oculus announcing a higher end rift in a few weeks. Ie not holding my breath

Atmos Publish time 2-12-2019 05:13:24

Seriously? If Valve were too busy reaping the rewards of Steam software purchases where did they find the time to develop Index, Knuckles and LH2.0?

I’ll make a deal with you @snowdog. If Valve don’t release a new VR game by the end of 2019 I’ll gift a VR game of your choice up to the value of £20. Like wise if Valve release a VR game in 2019 you gift that game to me up to the value of £20. But if Valve gift that game free to Index owners you gift me a game of my choice up to the value of £20. How confident are you?
