Any ideas why I'm getting a caution on this drive? Windows Disk Management says it's healthy data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Edit:
After some Googling, it seems if you have Current Pending Sector Count cautions, you're going to have a bad time data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Luckily it's within warranty so I can RMA it. Luckier still, it's only my downloads / Windows back-up drive so I can easily shift the 710GB of data onto my 2TB.
Phew data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

You got anything important on that drive?
I'd recommend you shift it off.
If you have a WD drive in your machine you should try this program - http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=612&sid=3
You should do a full erase (fill it with zeros), it may solve the issue by assigning 'spare' sectors data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
But it can, and probably will, degrade over time, unfortunately!

Cheers bud.
Nothing of any real importance... just my downloads, Windows back-up and all my Android modding stuff.
Ill back it up, write zeros to it and then RMA it. Its only 385 days old so shouldnt be failing this early.
Its a Samsung but RMAs are handled by Seagate now so I used SeaTools which failed on self test and gave me a ticket number for RMA. Quite efficient actually!
If it was my games drive Id be more worried. Only thing is now I dont know if Ill trust the replacement.

Happy days! Don't Seagate (and WD) do a 5 year warranty, or such like?
The 'zeroing' of the drive should sort out those sectors; that's if you want to keep using it, but then again, you'd need to keep an eye on it from time-to-time. Saying that, the degradation process isn't overnight, it would take months (maybe, depending on usage?) for it to start losing data. Although, 1 corrupted bit is enough to render a file unreadable/unusable.
Personally, I'd stick to Seagate and/or Western Digital data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
I need to pick up a couple more 3GB drives. I've got a mish-mash of storage, at the mo - 3GB 1TB internal, and 1TB external - Or something along those lines. I'm sure I've got about 5-6TB of space.
But I'd like to collate it all into a RAID, with a separate drive for Windows and crap.
EDIT
In other news, I'm tempted by this! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Seriously? youre only running 1 gpu and youre not wc'ed, it would look awful in such a big empty space. Wouldnt be surprised if your temps went up because of the increase in static air in there

I'd have to go WC'ing if I invested though, so I'll have to do a little research before I buy in! (And I think I'd also want to update my Mobo and CPU, but Haswell isn't tickling my pickle!)
Don't know about SLI-Titans though, I'd maybe go SLI-780s. Especially since I have a sprog, a couple of grand will go amiss! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
