just seen this on uk hot deals

Peavey ValveKing II 100W Amp Head with FREE AT-200 Self-Tuning Guitar at Gear4Music.com

looks to be a good deal ?

Philly112 Publish time 25-11-2019 21:24:38

I see the amp has a vari class knob. We had one of those at school. The lad grew up on a council estate till his mum remarried a merchant banker.

Looks like Peavey lumping two things that don't logically go together in order to get rid of their excess stock.100W is too big for home, and the AT-200 is a beginner's guitar, IMO.Buyer beware!

Christian 71 Publish time 25-11-2019 21:24:39

Looks a great deal to me. I thought the 100w at 300 was good on the black friday, throwing in the AT-200 is stonking.

Not played either but the Valveking ii is supposed to be a fairly decent amp and has powerscaling built in. Probably a good "my first gigg" setup, so you don't have to take your main guitar and amp out.

was in wh smiths today...had a peruse of the 'guitar classics' magazine

was tempted but was feeling a bit tight about parting with 8 quid for it

the fender telecaster bible special

also a good article on wilko Johnson...still gutted I wasn't quick enough for Cambridge gig next month.

seems that a lot of the models all sound a bit different.....had a look a400 quid 'standard' the other day....nice...didn't have a go .

still prefer a rosewood fret board though

Strats and especially Teles are made for a zingy sharper single coil sound, and maple accentuates this. Les Pauls with humbuckers are a fuller rockier sound and come in Rosewood.

(This is of course over simplistic and Strats and Teles have humbuckers and Rosewood options).

must admit i seem to favour more trebley sound

when it comes to guitars...im forever turning the bass down on my amp..and often switching to the bridge pick .....especially with the gain wacked up a bit....seems less wooly to my ears.

AndrewH13 Publish time 25-11-2019 21:24:40

In that case, your next guitar ...... must have MAPLE. I love it!
My pride and joy:
