Another vote for Last of Us here (and its awesome dlc Left Behind). Nothing has ever topped this masterpiece which truly brought interactive movie to a crowning glory. In fact, not only was it the greatest game I have ever plated, it was even the best movie of the year.
Everything else paled since then BUT its the small indie games that really shine for me, leaving much longer impressions.
Her Story was an absolute delight in its unique premise and gameplay, where you have to piece together a story from a series of interviews. And what a story, and a great performance from the on screen actress. Play it and you will remember it for a long time.
A tale of Two Brothers was another remarkable game (already mentioned by Apsilon). Unforgettable story with a unique control system which, although takes a little while to get use to remarkably adds to an emotion experience, the further in the game you get.
There are a few other indie games that quite honestly, far more impressed me for sheer sol and imagination than the big budget games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Arkham Knight (which dont get me wrong, I had a great time with too). |
