Pressing tonight felt really good and got loads done, really enjoyed training with the missus as she's getting more confident around heavy weights and even starting get aggressive with the bar! Mega pleased with how my bench is coming on, even though we did it last the first two sets were paused and really smooth, after that it got a bit quicker!

Barbell C&P - bar x lots, 30 x lots
Axle C&P strict press - 55x5, 85x5, 90x2 (failed 3 & 4, needed more rest), 67.5x10
Viking press - 40x10, 80x5, 80x5, 100x3
Incline Fly - 15x15, 15x15, 15x15
Flat bench - 107.5 x 5, 107.5 x 5, 107.5 x 5, 107.5 x 3, 107.5 x 4

nice one...when you say paused - is that the weight held at the bottom (but not on the chest)?

I was at my kettlercise and metafit - new people there so that spurs me on to show them how it;'s done

Paused on my chest for a two count, I'm weakest in the bottom half of a press so it puts a little bit more emphasis on it by removing momentum. I'm doing the same with the strict over head pressing, pausing with the bar on my upper chest before pressing it up again as fast as I can.

I'm enjoying showing wifey the way, she's getting more confident everytime and she was petrified of the bar dropping on me at first!

aha...nice one, I heard of that one before - just wanted to make sure...

going to a hotel tomorrow with a good gym, so I'll do a quick intense high rep session before enjoying the spa

It's like a power lifting bench press when you press on command, much harder than going quick with a touch and go.

Enjoy the time away, you've a got to get a pump on before relaxing in a spa!

Did events today as I missed yesterday with a family commitment, also ended up having a late night with an Aussie mate and a bottle of whisky too! So didn't expect much other than a lot of puffing, panting and a higher amount of feeling nauseasious than usual! Because the gym was busy we couldn't do all of the stuff we wanted, so did some log at the end.

Warm up log - 40 x 10 floor to overhead
Farmers - 25 x 60m, 25 x 60m, 65 x 60m, 85 x 60m, 85 x 60m, 85 x 30m fast, 75 x 60m
Log - 80 x 5 FTOH x5 strict, 90 x 3, 100 x 1, 110 x 1, 115 failed to clean it
Barbell push press - 80 x 3, 100 x 1, 100 x 1

My buddy filmed the last push press and I had a little moment racking it!

You're lucky your wife is taking an interest in the gym. That's quality time right there, doing something you enjoy and sharing it with someone else

It's mega, she's hammering the gym with us and having loads of fun with it as well. For valentines she wants to have a 1rm session so we can find out where she's at strength wise.

Bit of a change up tonight, as sets of 5 have worked well for me pressing I'm doing it for all the main lifts and focussing on speed. Around mid to late March I'm going to start doing 5,3,1 to start running up to the first comp in May.

Deads - 60x15, 100x10, 140x5, 170x5, 170x5, 170x5, 170x5, 170x5, 170x5
Seated Row - 40x10, 80x10, 80x10, 80x10
Plate loaded lat pull - 80x10, 80x10, 80x10, 80x10
Cable curl - 8plates x 12, 9x10, 9x10
Hyper extensions -  20x10,  20x10,  20x10

Got home had a big feed and a good foam rolling session. The deads tonight were really good, broke the floor fast and felt like I could have done more. I found it so hard fighting that feeling as I'm waiting until the end of the month to pull something impressive! Looking forward to doing legs with a man mountain who's a 300kg  squatter on Wednesday, it'll be my first session in Oly shoes if the courier gets them to me so fingers crossed I've not wasted my money!
