Beginning of the end of the Tory Party?

Ok, a little tongue in cheek I'll admit.  But having said that, it's still a disaster for the Tories.  

May called this election as it looks to be a walk in the park (actually wasn't that when she decided to change her mind in the first place and call an election) and one of the biggest landslides in political history.  She starts ahead in the polls and makes such a complete hash of it, that we are in the mess of a Hung Parliament.  

Will May go?  Should she?  

Boris as Prime minister is almost as unbelievable as Trump as President...

Even the most ardent Tory supporter can only see this as a disaster, surely? May has proven time and time again she is so far out of touch with the electorate. Her position is all but untenable at the moment.

I posted on the election thread a while ago that the last time the Tories won a decent majority was in 1987 under Thatcher.

Those 2 election wins in 1983 and 1987 were the only Tory landslides in the last 50 years.

To quote Kevin Keegan when Newcastle were 15 points clear of Man United: "I would luv it if we beat them. Absolutely luv it" (they didn't win the title).

It's always hilarious to see smug Tory a***holes and the Right Wing press squirming and wailing, but politics is all about jockeying for position and tussling over power and that won't change anytime soon.

But yes, Conservatism doesn't represent me; never has and never will.

Maybe we're all just sick of adversarial politics and pathetic point-scoring. Perhaps communication, negotiation and cooperation is the way forward, isn't that what Democracy is supposed to be all about?

Perhaps a reasonable centrist party might emerge from the Ashes of this election. Unlikely I know.

It's a great day to be alive.  The PM bet on the house and lost.  Couldn't have happened to a better person.  She wouldn't debate the other leaders and conducted the whole affair as though it was a presidential election.  She is okay when she works from a script but go off script and she falls apart.

It looks increasingly likely now we will have a better 'negotiated' soft brexit rather than her stance of 'dealing with a bloody difficult women'.

I can't profess to like Corbyn very much but he came across as much the better leader of the two.

I just hope it's enough to encourage the remainder of the young non-voters to get off their arses and see what a difference they can make. IF, there's another election in October, and especially if May doesn't quit, you could actually see a Labour majority within the next 5 years.

Conservative PMs and Europe don’t mix, never have. Mays problem is general Conservative arrogance, coming from too much echo chamber and not getting out.
