Public spending has been cut to the bone - beyond for councils, schools etc.

But how much is going to councils?
London Crosslink (budget £18bn so far) and HS2 (£56bn so far).
I expect another £10bn at least.

Does % GDP mean anything unless we know what it costs to maintain said public sector?

So, Michael Gove said said the party leader needs to be someone who has been "tested in the heat of battle" and not one who has been "hiding in their bunker".

Is this an endorsement of Rory Stewart?  Only candidate with military service lol

Rory Stewart would make an excellent PM and is far better than any of the others in this contest.  It's a pity that he is probably going have to wait for the next turn of wheel before he gets his chance.

"If I become Prime Minister I will introduce National Citizen Service - universal - for every young person. Purpose. Character. Coming together across the United Kingdom."

How well will that go down at the next GE?

Just looked him up.
He has been in a lot of hot spots including three years in Afghanistan!

He may get his chancer soon than that. Given that the rest of em are a whose who of incompetence and inability.

Plus he hopefully wouldn't have the poisoned chalice of Brexit to deal with either in the future.

Could actually work out quite well for him.

Sounds worse before you see what he is proposing!

A 2 weeks outward bound holiday for 16 year olds!!
Well not exactly, but also not 2 years army service

I wonder what Boris will offer to counter?
6 weeks supply of free cookies for students doing their GCSEs?
