Thats one good thing that has emerged (sorry, that makes it sound like the concept isnt good, and thats not what I am saying) a quick page of info, some random comic panels, all helps to build towards the story you are about to read. Obviously it cant replace 100  comics of stories, but its a good start and something that I think should be implimented into published graphic novels that are not self contained mini series or start at issue 1.

I subscribed on the 5th of Jan and the 1st book was delivered yesterday.

All the packaging and extra cardboard that comes with the ones in shops is not included and it is the novel in cellophane in a cardboard envelope which provided enough protection that the book itself was pristine.

Hi,

The free gifts and other assorted extras are only available if you subscribe with one of the first six issues. If you subscribe from Issue 6 onwards, it is my understanding you won't be entitled to any free gifts at all.

The X-Men originally ran from issue 1-66 and the team was originally Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Cyclops, The Beast(in his human form not in his blue fur form), Iceman, Angel and guiding them Professor X it was then dropped though lack of sales although I no idea why as it was a very good comic and some realy nice artwork bu Neal Adams. Reprints of the earlier storeys were run bi-monthly and got a rebooted with a Giant Size with a new team devise by len Wein and Dave Cockrum which continued in issue 94 with Chris Claremont. Beast, Angel and Iceman left the team.
To me 94-144 were the hay days of the X-Men and although there have been some good story-lines they never been as consistent as good and Marvel has milked a lot of there characters putting them in multiple ongoing comics, splitting teams up and at times introducing very poor support characters.
The late Dave Cockrum also devised a new super hero team called the Futurians which I got 2 or 3 and enjoyed but it was canceled.

I popped into Smiths today and there was no sight of any of the book any-ware.

Hi Garrett,

They may kept in a special part of the magazines/comics section, where all of these part-work magazines are on display together. Other times, they will be in a "dump bin" near the tills, or on display in front of the tills themselves. Occasionally, they'll be on display, above the square metal newspaper stands that most WHS's use.

If you still can't find them, just ask, as I'm sure they'll have them out somewhere in the store.

I have always been more of a DC man myself, but this collection does seem pretty good, not comprehensive, but a lot of decent stories to pull you in and give a very good intro to the Marvel universe
