They claim it is new, it just had a ding in the exact same spot as the previous one. Odd that. When we went they had popped it out. not sure how, probably heat gun and pressure.

We will ask the inspector bloke to have a look at it. Unless we can just take it to another garage. If we do I'll supply the schedule and ask them to look over it all just to make sure they have done it all.

The official Mazda UK response:

"As requested, I have also forwarded on the pictures to our technical team for their opinion. They advise a defect cannot be seen but as the photos are not detailed and poorly lit, it is difficult to make an official comment."

So, my first, and last Mazda!

Maybe "stick it on with sealant" is the official repair for a replacement wing?

Don't think you will get a different response from any other brand. You and I can easily see and speak our mind, they think lawyers, compensation and all sorts. Its annoying as you want it just fixed, but compensation entitlement by some has had the reverse effect in my opinion.

Definitely get it redone.

Well, Vizion Network (who the insurance company use for their repairs) have been excellent. They were on the phone with the Mrs yesterday and they agree it is unacceptable. It took a good half day but we have an independent inspector (paid for by the insurance company) going out to assess the work.

Regardless of the outcome we have been assured it is going to another garage to be repaired. The original garage will get the bill.

Apparently it is a new wing but they buggered it up when they were welding it. Not sure what you weld all the way down there but the garage has finally admitted it made a mistake.

What annoys me is that they left it like that, the paint shop painted it like that and then the garage tried to palm it off onto us like that.

I hope they think twice before they try to screw over the next customer.

Good on you for sticking to your guns.  Too many people can't be bothered to argue so they just put up with bodge jobs.  Happens all the time not just with cars.

I am wondering if that would compromise crash resistance.

Independent assessment organised for Monday.

Apparently I have to pay the excess for them to release it to another garage. I have been told that I am not to sign anything.

Once the assessment report is completed and circulated to all parties our car will be taken to another garage to be re-repaired. The garage isn't happy that it will be on their forecourt until then and that we will have the loan car until then. At that point we should get another loan car from the next garage our car is taken to.

My brother showed the photo to a friend who owned a coachworks. He blew his stack! Said at least three people should be sacked for the balls up.

CAB told me not to collect the car as I don't work for the insurance company, the garage network or the garage who carried out the work so why should I be doing their job for them.

Good advice form the CAB, worth talking to.
I wonder if someone is doing to lose their job.
