The saga continues.
I am still on copper BB, provided free by BT until this is sorted. They have now worked out a way to upgrade the copper to FTTC without cancelling the FTTP. It will take a week to implement so we shall see.
The FTTP order is still in progress. I am told it will happen and the next stage is to complete an Agreement to Dig. On a couple of times I have been told that Openreach should not have asked me to dig myself and that it will all be done for me.

At least the FTTC has been reinstated using a temporary customer number, a dummy account effectively. FTTP have been in touch, they say they have issued an instruction to Openreach to proceed. There are substantial costs but none to me.

Still waiting on an install date. Apparently no one told the computer that the install costs were approved.
Am I right in thinking that the new cable will carry my telephone calls also and my old cable can lie and rot in the ground?I am with BT for calls and internet.

No, fibre is data only. You will need to keep the existing copper wire for landline, OR invest in a VOIP solution (unless BT provide one). Be aware that if you only have a VOIP service, and there is a power cut, you will not be able to make phone calls.

There again, not much different from having a DECT/handsfree base station and phone.
