Ive taken a note of the serial numbers of each drive bay so I can add them in the correct order.

Im stuck again though. Ive added 3 drives to disk 1-3 under devices as I wanted to start the array. When I click on 'main' at the top it states no drives have been assigned, even after a reboot. Im following the guide but I cant see anything im missing.

Scrolling through my new set of preclears I seem to have been a numpty and started 2 preclears on the same drive. Is there a way to safely cancel a preclear?

Which version of unraid are you using? Have you clicked on Format after you have assigned the disks?
As for the preclears I think you can do ctrl break or something like that to stop it.

Im using 4.7. As I read the instructions the format button would be on the main screen next to the listed drives but as I have no listed drives there isn't a format option.

I think I cancelled the preclear by pressing control c. No message came up saying it was cancelled but it stopped updating and the other instance then increased in speed.

Try running the beta program.

I stuck with 4.7 as I thought it would be the most stable.

I have been running the beta versions and they have all been very stable. I would never run 4.7 now!

Much different? Would I have to set up the server again? not that im far into it I guess. Im going to finish the preclear that is running now anyway so thought id copy some data over to the drives that are ready.

Nope. That's the good thing about it. It will remember your settings. But as you haven't got anything setup, this will not be a problem.

This sounds encouraging. I'm running 4.7 as this is what I used to build the server with. Was a bit worried to upgrade to the latest beta because of the long thread of problems on their forum.

However, I'd like to see whether it solves my 'wake up from standby' problem and whether the new kernel contains the IT87 drivers to control my fans using scripts.

Thought about trying on a new flash drive first and keep the original one safe for now. But if you're saying the latest beta is stable I might just convert the system now. Are you running the latest beta? Did you notice any major improvements compared to 4.7?

According to the offical forums 4.7 doesnt support 3tb drives. Is there a guide to update to beta? And will i lose my usb licence from unraid? My usb has a pro licence.
