Wow, cheap! Is it easy changing over your parity drive to a 3TB one, do you know?

hmm looks a bit dodgy tbh...anything which is "cheap" is out of stock

Are you runing the V5 beta? 3tb support is only in the beta. I keep thinking about giving it a try but it seems to have had loads of issues with my AOC SASLP card until recently.

You can use the 3tb drives on 4.7 but I think you have to limit the size to about 2.4Tb using HPA.

Im looking at starting a new build in the new year. Any recommendations for cases that are a bit smaller? Id like 3 of those drive cages in mine. I wondered if the Antec 1100 might do the trick?

These 2 cases look like they would fit the bill nicely

That would allow me to have 3 5 in 3 cages but no space for an optical drive. Im not sure I need one or not. I rip a lot of Blurays but I do that on my gaming PC at the moment.

You don't use an optical drive. You basically rip the blu ray on your gaming pc, and transfer them over the network to the unraid storage. Or as I prefer to do, I set the rip destination to be the unraid folder ive created.

^ What he said.

Basically an unRAID server is a "dumb" box, that you just use for storage.Anything else takes up space, although that in itself is irrelevant as the only O/S you can put on an unRAID server is the unRAID O/S itself.

fair enough, advice taken data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Smurfin, where did you get those cages from? I can't find any for that price.

Is it worth getting a cage and controller that is 6Gb/s?

Dan201 Publish time 2-12-2019 04:32:45

Did you consider, or is it even possible to use a ssd cache drive on a z68 mobo? Just had a look at the unraid site and it says it supports a cache drive.
