I upgraded our eight year old 40inch Sony Bravia earlier this year for a 55inch LG B6. Loving it. My mother in law has the Bravia now so I still see it - and it's a great TV - but watching stuff at home on the LG is like being at the cinema. I haven't been to the cinema since we bought it.
I would say that I typically upgrade my main TV once every 3-5 years, however, I kept my Pioneer KRP 500a running as my main set for a staggering 7 years.That was a bit of a special case however as it pretty much took at least 5 years for it to be even bettered!Before that, I owned a 40" LCD for a couple of years (getting in right at the start of 1080p with the first 1080p Samsung), before that a widescreen 32" Sony CRT for around 5 years and before that a 4:3 29" Sony CRT for again around 5 years.
I bought the 65" LG B6 at launch last year and have no plans to change that at all for some time to come.It still completely blows me away after owning it for over a year.
I have upgraded to an LG 65 inch B6 this year, I had an LG Plasma 60 inch which I bought about 3 years ago but when I bought it it was as a stopgap until I could afford to get an OLED set. I'm glad I couldn't afford it at the time as I think the B6 is much better than the early models, 65 inch HDR not curved. I'm very happy with this TV and don't think that I'll be upgrading for quite a while as it's the best and most expensive TV I've ever owned, and am shortly going to have it professionally calibrated, looking forward to that. Also UHD Blu Rays look fantastic (Oppo 203)

Honestly, I bought my last TV in 2013, a 3D full HD LG 42LA641S that is still working as almost 4 years ago. I would love to buy a 3D TV now, 4K resolution, but I am not very eager to do it (3D 4K TV is very, very expensive now). I go by the words "if it is not broken, don't fix it/replace it". A new 4K TV would cost me a lot more than I want to spend right now (still an LG TV, I am very satisfied with my current one). I also do not want to ditch 3D. It looks manufacturers are moving away from 3D again and I would love to be able to continue watching 3D movies in the future.
Had our main TV (a 46" ES6300 Series 6 SMART 3D Full HD Slim LED TV), since 2012. Thought about upgrading but it's working fine and we only use it with YouView now so seems rather a waste of money to change it.

After the feedback of so many fast switchers here I am admitting that I am still living with my 14 (!) years old plasma (Pio 434). It cost me nearly 6.000 Euros in 2003 and am now looking to buy an LG OLED 55B7 in November when I come back from a long foreign stay.
