Like I say,I don't know how plumbing works, but if the valve is closed to let hot water in, no hot water can come out the other end to continue the series.

I'm picturing one big loop starting at the boiler flowing through all the radiators and ending at the boiler.

If that's not how CH works then I'm completely wrong. Genuinely have no idea

No it shouldn't be like that, otherwise the flow would be dictated by the first most closed valve in the loop, smart or not. I'm pretty sure the water just bypasses the radiator if the valve is closed, at least in our house, built 2015

d10 brp is correct it should bypass the "off" radiator and carry on to the next one.

I do have another question re smart trv though:
I have the thermostat, extension kit and have just recently added 1 smart trv which I have set up as a 3rd zone to heating and hot water. I have been finding that the boiler does respond when the trv zone calls for heat. Is it supposed to do that or not? I am unclear from some of your responses.

THe bypass makes sense.

The TRV 'can' have the boiler respond through a Tado changeable setting.I don't think it can be changed by the user

That's right, when I got my extension kit installed I had to call Tado to change a non-user operable setting to make the TRVs call for the boiler to turn on instead of the Tado thermostat. That was in February and has worked pretty well since but I have had to reboot the extension kit a couple of times after the connection to Tado servers was lost.

Does anyone know where Tado ship from?German address on the website although wondered if they have distribution centres in the UK?

SirSpike Publish time 1-12-2019 21:02:53

Does this mean the TRV is acting as the main thermostat? or does the Thermostat and TRV play nicely together i.e. if either of the rooms is not to the required temp, then the thermostat or TRV tells the boiler to fire?

Mine shipped from Germany via DHL.They are available on amazon uk, and available as Prime so they must hold stock in the uk.

d10brp Publish time 1-12-2019 21:02:54

I think mine is set up so that either can call for the boiler to turn on but in my case, I'm not using the thermostat so I just set it to a really low temperature.

Any of you guys order direct from Tado? They're certainly not sending it by express delivery!!How long did it take for you guys from confirmation of shipping?(DHL's website is never really updated with progress)

Once mine was shipped it was quick. It was the 3 months between order and shipping that was a drag
