Maybe worth emailing Belkin and telling them that you are not happy with the way they are dealing with the situation and you are contemplating getting in touch with Watchdog!

I have been thinking long and hard about this today. I bought the products in good faith from an established and reliable retailer.Belkin's warranty is explicit

"Belkin Limited warrants to the original consumer or other end-user of
any PureAV Power Console for the life of the product, that the PureAV
Power Console shall be free of defects in design, assembly, material
or workmanship and will repair or replace, at its option, any defective
PureAV Power Console free of charge."

it makes no mention of any restrictions such as, providing it is cheap and easy for use to do so, consequently I find there current position unacceptable and untenable.

If they are unable to execute a simple repair such as replacing a power lead what value has the warranty full stop.

I have always thought Belkin to be a reputable company but their repsonses from both a speed of reply and customer focus perspective are starting to suggest other wise.

Interesting on reading and considering the warranty - it does have a get out clause a very big one because the warranty only applies for the life of the product so I presume they could also argue that once a product is discontinued by them or breaks it has reached the end of its life and the warranty is no longer valid !!

Off to write my response to Belkin's

Further to our telephone conversation, I apologise again that we are unable to replace the products for you; this is due to lack of stock.

You could either return the products to your reseller or to Belkin for a full refund.

If you would like me to arrange a refund, please provide copy of the proof of purchase and I will arrange a courier to collect the products.

Belkin strongly recommends that you do not replace the plus yourself; firstly due to the potential safety risks and secondly because it would invalidate the product warranty.

Apologies again for the inconvenience caused. This matter is being thoroughly investigated.

Press them on that point before you agree to anything. Looks like some dufus* in the manufactory didn't wire some properly and for whatever reason they slipped through quality control. It's a simple fix but they should be doing it.

what gets me is that we are highlighting a potential dangerous manufacturing fault that could costs them serious money and certainly bad publicilty and lots of inconvenience if someone got injured whilst using these units and they are dilly dallying trying to save a few pounds

I have had further thoughts on a solution. This product appears to be back on sale with sellers quoting stocks of over 250 units. As the product was clearly withdrawn it would suggest that the product has been checked and confirmed working by who ever is holding the stock. All the retailers I have spoken with state they do not have physical stock. I now believe the easiest solution would be for Belkin to arrrange for the reseller to complete a swap out for tested working units.I have emailed this suggestion to Belkin.

Hi all, I received a call from Belkin yesterday informing me they had a PF40 in stock and offering to send it in exchange for the faulty one.

It arrived this morning and has been checked and is working correctly. The faulty one is to be uplifted on 17/8/10 so they can check it.

I phoned Belkin and informed them of the situation and again advised to look at this website. I pointed out some customers have modified their units as it seemed the only solution, as a refund would not allow the customer to replace with a suitable unit.

I also asked regarding the units now on sale again and was informed they are not coming direct from Belkin.

Hope you all achieve a satisfactory solution.

Regards mipmip.

My order with SHD Online has just been cancelled, I might order it again from elsewhere if I can find somewhere still sending them out.

Crescent Electronics site appears to be accepting orders.

I took a punt with one from Crescent, it should be waiting at home for me. I wonder if this will have the same issues...

Ianfromnotts Publish time 26-11-2019 21:19:07

Good to hear in Crescent stock is ok as finding a supplier with good stock would be the best solution
