I've used it all the time since I got my Garmin which is back in January I think.

On another note, does anyone start to not enjoy running when training for an event because your running to a plan rather than running for fun?

When I got my injury due to new shoe's I was going to buy a bike because I had been running loads for my half marathon and just thought that it would take some impact off my knees while still keeping me fit. The only thing that stopped me was that with the change over from 2012 - 2013 models, my size wasn't in stock!

I then did my first park run a week ago and then the 10k on Wednesday and enjoyed running again and thought about if I really wanted a bike. Then came the realisation that I had two weeks before the half and that I needed to get a 13 mile run in on Sunday when the forecast was bad because I was out all day Saturday. At that point, running seemed a chore again rather than for fun!

I'm sure that come the half marathon, I will enjoy running again because I'll be running it because I want to rather than have to. So if anyone else goes through the same, have you got any advice because I'm not looking forward to 3-4 months marathon training in the cold and wet winter months even though the reward will hopefully be completing a marathon?

P.S. I did the 13 miles in my new shoes that have replaced my new shoes data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 and although I could feel that they were new, they just felt like the old pair. My shine feels a bit odd today, but I expected that as I've had to increase my mileage quicker than I should have done!

I thought I was being brave last night and went out in the rain in my shorts and tshirt.I had to abandon it half after 15mins, was cold and drenched.I won't be doing that again.

I don't mind a bit of rain but the stuff that's falling at the moment is just miserable, a light jacket and some tights really help for those winter months. As does a compression top for those frosty evenings data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I think the pink would really suit you data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Seriously though, if I didn't already have a watch i'd be tempted by the black one. Might get our lass one...

I think they have only just released that model but it seems to do what you want I think. The battery only lasts 5 hours in training mode, so I don't know if that will be an issue.

However, just playing devils advocate here, for only £10.81 more: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Forerunner-110/dp/B008G750YA

You cheeky bugger, we all know he's a bit old and slow, butthat should be enough to make it round a parkrun data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Ooh a running thread. Excellent. May i join in?

Used to run daily in my 20s. Did the usual distance stuff but retreated to the gym in my 30s albeit with some success. 40s been a bad period for various reasons but resumed running back in April and discovered I was bored with distance. Was planning on building from 2 to 5 miles but no more as I have various other commitments and needed weight loss without huge time commitment. Actually dropped from 2 to 1; found myself really enjoying it and losing 1-2lbs pw ever since.

However then ran into nerve compression and found myself replacing my trusty running shoes. New pair of wide Brooks Adrenaline later and I've been speeding along as my gait relaxed into what it used to be.

Was originally aiming to lose 4 stone; get back to a 32" waist and run <6 minute mile. Managed to get the waist within weeks; have lost 2 stone and am keeping going but got the 1 mile down to 5:24 before getting a cold. I always get ill running in Winter so this time I've purchased a cross trainer to get me through to March/April.

I should explain I can't drive cos of my eyes, which makes the gym in Winter a lot harder than if ought to be.

Really enjoying the thread.
