Congrats to the GNRs
Think take the period of complete rest first and see how you feel. First time I ran a half marathon was half-zombified after. These days my recovery time would be about two days. Altering the routine to do shorter distances but more often may be an idea. Less strain. Course there is always swimming / cycling until your body says "can go running again"

Nice one Mr Flash.

I attempted the 25min run on Sunday, i got to 14mins and I had a massive stitch.I Had to stop.I tried again tonight and completed it.I was nervous to start with because I thought I would fail again.

It felt great and I am looking forward to the next one now.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Went to the gym last night and done a bit of swimming.I did try running in the pool but my leg didn't really like that!

Signed myself up to a mini triathlon. It's always something I've been interested in but I really need to work on my swimming before I sign up to a full one.

I did struggle with my first 25min on Sunday. I was nearly sick at the side of the road when I finished .

Yesterdays 2nd one was hard work but a lot better than the first attempt.

I think I can accept now that anyone can have a bad day running. It doesn't take a lot.

Would that be a full IRONMAN triathlon data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

something like this?

i'm going to attempt it lol

Elrond Publish time 26-11-2019 05:20:53

I saw someone talking about that yesterday. His words were something along the lines of "It's the marathon up a mountain that worries me".

They also refer to the run at the end as a run/trek!

Certainly nowhere near that level but at some point I've always fancied doing an ironman event.

Realistically though I have a LOT of work to do before I even think about it.I don't ride at the moment so that's something I need to start and I can barely swim 50m without stopping for a breather!

Got my first 10k this afternoon. Not a large one as it's a corporate fund raising event with teams from different companies but still getting nervous! Done the distance plenty of times before so everything should be good.

One leason lernt already though, plan hydration around an hours conference call because what goes in must come out and it's not good when that sensation begins right at the start of the call data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I'm pretty gung-ho about these things, but that is seriously tough. The bike leg alone would be a significant challenge, with a similar amount of climbing to the Fred Whitton. Running up hill is very very challenging. Fair play if you go for it, but I would be very intimidated by the level of training/fitness required to get through it.
