So if the Police are able to gather evidence to allow them to a build a case against those alleged to have abused Nick and others then we may get to the truth of the matter through the criminal justice system and Juries to arrive at a verdict. We may never get there of course, but it's something that needs to happen if we are to ultimately unravel the truth from the chaff.

The salient point from Nick is that the men he alleges abused him are still very much alive and should be investigated by the Police. Either there won't be enough evidence to charge and prosecute them with or there will be. Arrests might be imminent and those arrested may shock. But I'll believe it when I see it.
