A trial of the facts can happen after somebody dies, but it's very rare that it happens. I'd assumed if he died before they could start a trial of the facts the Goddard inquiry would take it up.
I'm sure we are going to learn a lot of stuff over the coming weeks about Janner.
However we might not learn everything given a certain MP may not want the truth coming out as it may harm or end his Parliamentary career.

The DPP Alison Saunders was given a horrendous amount of abuse over the decision not to prosecute due to Lord Janners ill health. Her resignation was demanded and all sorts of conspiracy theories we thrown around. Many politicians tried to put her under real pressure to try and boost their popularity and profile. Politicians interfering in the legal process is a very slippery slope.
But just maybe, the confidential medical reports she was given led her to genuinely believe that a trial was not in the public interest. (Well it's a thought.)
In any case, I hope Lord Janner is now facing justice from one who knows exactly what he did and didn't do.
I despise him for making me not care about someone dying.
He's dead, he escaped justice.
The stench of protecting establishent figure. There was nothing to suggest to me, he was too unwell to stand trial, not even Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, often used to manage people with various Dementia diseases . My overwhelming thoughts are with the alleged victims and secondly his family, how they will they reconcile his legacy.
Well events rather seem to have borne her opinion out. But her career will probably suffer for it all the same.
