Sadly I'm not entirely sure that is the case, no heads have rolled in Rotherham,or indeed in many other localities, with some of the perpetrators still on the street and the police and other institutions still in cover up or whitewash mode.
I expected people to be calling for blood, but it seems the fight has been knocked out of the public, or are still in a daze over the extent of it and need a lightning rod to galvanise the whole sorry affair.

I think the general public is in denial at the moment. Something will occur that snaps people out of it. But it may take years for it to happen or merely the arrest of a Politician and conviction might do it. We do seem to have been groomed as a nation to place blame onto the victims of these sorts of crimes. That attitude is slowly changing from what I can see, but again that's debateable.
The survivors of abuse are starting to coalesce on social media and will in time become a force to be reckoned with. Social Media is making the difference as it's 20th century Civil Service/Establishment vs 21st Century Social Networks.

... or the general public are so far removed or disinterested that its just a sideshow.
Social media i doubt will coalesce as too anonymous and reactionary. More bothered about a cat doing a back flip than making political change

I'm not so sure, I believe it's just to close in the many life's of people to form objective opinion, they would rather ignore it rather than deal with it, the stiff upper lip!

Just as disinterested as they were in expenses before that exploded into a major scandal. Same thing will eventually happen with this.
By social media I'm speaking of the survivors who are coalescing around each other and coming together. They will be a force to be reckoned with going forward. The sheer numbers of people coming forward will overwhelm the system at some point.
Which is what we do about a lot of things, but there are moments when that stiff upper lip trembles as a scandal erupts. It will likely take years for this to come out, but from what's been released or mentioned in terms of files, Thatcher's Government was rife with pedophiles. Along with Politicians from other parties like Cyril Smith.

It's not an MP or former MP that's been arrested.

Probably most of those who vote

I think the expenses scandal probably made up the minds of some people not to vote again.

Upto now we have been served up dead or now powerless individuals. I can't see this changing.
If files existed and Thatcher knew, so did Major, Blair and Brown. All complicit!
