yeah...end the end went for the crafter......the last make I though I'd go for as I mistakenly thought it was a bit of a cheaper make.

really well made and a lot heavier feeling than others I looked at ...some 200 quid dearer...looked and sounded great ...must have tried and played about 10 guitars all in the 300 - 500 quid bracket ...kept going back to this one...had a go through an 35 watt amp too which sounded great....a lot of songs I know did play and sounda lot better over my fender...which I'm still going to keep..though my daughter has an eye on it.
would have liked to directly compared with the little taylor gs mini but couldn't ....but I thought from what I remembered the sound was not a million miles away...plus it was a lot cheaper...and an electro acoustic to boot
mahogany body and neck ...really like the sound of mahogany bodied guitars
been looking on gumtree for a second electro acoustic for my daughter...some seemingly good buys on there...if you can get an answer off anyone

mind you I've only just noticed it hasn't got a pick guard...might have to keep my daughter off it as I noticed she went beyond the pick guard on my fender when strumming
That's a fine looking guitar, love the mahogany body. I prefer the looks to the Epi you was considering earlier.
There are some interesting factory clips on YouTube I watched earlier this week when you first mentioned Crafter. Gets great reviews also.

The epi was a nice guitar.. Daughter really liked it too... Thought the crafter was a lot better all round for the same money... To my ears it sounded a lot nicer too

hey....yeah arrived just before I had to go to work so didn't get a lot of time for a play
sounded truly awful out of the box...and took quite a bit of tuning.
build quality is really great....quite heavy too...real solid feeling.
sounds a bit different than I remember in the shop....don't know if that's down to acoustics or being brand new?
loud.....sounds like its plugged into an amp already!
got one problem though...the open G string sound awful....got a 'squeak' to it when you pluck it....sounds fine when you fret it but open it sounds terrible? you can pick it out now and then when you're playing anything that requires an open G string.
emailed the seller...they said they're not come across it before...which would be about right....said it could be a faulty string ?...he's going to send a replacement out to me....never changed a string before mind.
any ideas if that is down to the string?

If it sounds fine fretted but duff open it can only really be something at the nut. Maybe slacken the string off enough to lift it out of the nut & make sure the groove is nice & clean & that there's no sign of wear to either the groove or the string.
Also check for the string binding in the groove. When you tune, the string pitch should alter smoothly as you turn the machine head.
It may sound a bit different to the one in the shop if the strings are new. Give them a while to bed in.
Not sure about your G, but I have a similar issue with mine. It can sound really bright and twangy when played open with a bit of attack.
I remember when I fitted the string that it didn't sit too well under the bridge pin (video clip 2:20) and took a second attempt. It's not bothering me enough to change it but I ought to.

everything looks located properly etc etc.....tunes up and down ok....bit of a bugger to tune back to g though,,,,goes when the strings too tight
....tune to g and there it is....very annoying!

Always hard to tell from a pic but the strings look a little light, like they may be 10s? How do they feel compared to your Fender?
Also the G bridge pin looks a little high & there's no sign of the winding showing like the others. Could be worth slackening off again & popping the pin to maker sure the ball is sitting correctly & then the pin fully home. But then I'd expect any problem at that end to manifest itself when fretted as well as open.
according to the book the crafter is fitted D'Addario light gauge acoustic strings
job to tell but seem similar to my fender.
...I did tune with 3 different tuners !
the seller had emailed me to say I could send it back and he can change the string.
as its brand new I don't know if I should bite the bullet and send it back or try and sort myself.
bound to something silly...does sound orrible when you pluck it...A ,A7 and D7 sound pretty bad for starters.
don't know if I should completely undo the G string tomorrow and try it again......I have got a 2 spare pack s of strings somewhere now I come to think of it
