I believe D'Addario EXPs should have a wound G string, even the extra light 10s. Yours is plain steel. I wonder if the original was broken & replaced with a cheapy? Could be worth checking with the seller & what string he's intending to send as a replacement.

Looks very nice reevsey. Great match for the rest of the room too data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I agree. That pin does look a bit higher than the others. Crock, are they supposed to sit with the head of the pin flush with the bridge?

I have just changed my G and my issue has improved. All pins are flush with the bridge but the G has a tendency to raise a bit.

well slacked the string all the way off and tightened the locking nut a bit...pushed the bridge pin in a tadge...just noticed theres no bridge pin remover with the guitar....tightened back up/...more palarva tuning...seems I get different readings form all 3 tuners!

finally got a G....problem still there...don't know to just send the whole back for the seller to sort..as much as that would bea pain in the backside.

Think I'd be inclined to just change that string first, either for one of yours or what the seller sends. If that solves it then change the rest jst to be sure they're all the same gauge & tone. Otherwise for what it would cost to send back, maybe get a shop to take a look at it first. If they find something wrong you'll have their bill to seek a refund from the seller with.

I don't think it's too critical as long as the pin can't move once the string is fully tensioned.

had thought about trotting off to my one guitar shop in town....he might not be too chuffed as I was in there the other day trying some out..

....mind you he'd sold his last one crafter and couldn't get another..so I did try and send some money his way.

I think it's entirely reasonable that you bought elsewhere if he was out of stock & I'd hope he'd see it the same way. If not then have a punt round for a local luthier.

Buy yourself a string winder. Makes life easier & most have a bridge pin puller.

well bit the bullet and changed the G string....seemed to have cured it !.....tea spoon and drying up cloth doubled up as a temp bridge puller!

sounds a lot better now thanks....will have to change the rest tomorrow...think that martin bronze string seem sound better than what was on there?

....cant say my windings was a neat as what come off though!

got some green windy up plastic thing with my fender...reckon that must be a string winder...no idea how that works!?

pain in the derrier having to change strings straight away but there you go...did get the guitar for about 25 quid cheaper than the one in the window.

think I'm going to have a beer now...and a bit of game of thrones data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Hard to know what's what but as I said previously, EXPs should have a wound G so something definitely not right. Maybe send the seller a pic of the guitar with the unwound string & ask him to supply a complete set as a resolution. Got to be better for him than taking the guitar back.

The winder just allows rapid turning of the tuner rather than half turns by hand. I'm sure there'll be YouTube examples. Have a look for a bridge-pin sized notch cut out of one edge.

                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://i.imgur.com/APLx11w.jpg&hash=8ecfa9465eef29345ef6e1b8cf6d9d14

Glad all seems well.

yeah that's the jobby ...very similar...had a closer look this morning I can see where you'd use it to lift the bridge pins out...the half circle slot front of your picture...so I can put away the tea spoons now!

the sellers sending out a string...and an electric cable to boot....must admit he's been very quick with his replys out of hours so fair play....he did say he hadn't touched the guitar so what was fitted came out of the factory...as I said to him I would have thought it would have been picked up before leaving the factory...as I mentioned it turned up woefully out of tune.

debating if I should change the rest over to the martin acoustic bronze strings or wait till the g string turns up and just change that one again.

tempted toput all bronze ones in and see what it sounds like with them...be an exercise in string changing if nothing else.

I noticed in my fender paperwork it suggests changing strings every 30 hours!

mind you if you sell strings you might well say that I suppose.

fender still sounds good to my ears 4 months down the line
