you say that but I had the worst experience with AXA, part of the experience was them sending £5000 to someone else that wasn't me.

To be fair, out of hundreds of thousands of claims a year, every company will cock up every now and again..

Yep no doubt they will but how they respond to their cockups is what matters.
The whole claim and process was a shambles tbh, I'd never use them again that's for sure.

Just seen this as a replacement.
Any opinions?

It's a 2.3L petrol, over £300 a year tax, uneconomical probably and it's not even fast

I’d probably be looking for a nice ten year old Focus unless you need the larger Mondeo.

Still not had anything concrete from the insurance company.
Even though the garage said write off, the ensurer company says it will be a week before i hear officially!
In the mean time i have car i cant drive and no idea whats going to happen to it. These things take far to long!

That's very poor service, if your insurance company was any good, they'd have told you it's a write off when you reported it, and subsequentlypaid you out.
Anything else is just waste.

No. An approved repairer saying it’s a total loss might do the job, but some will want their assessor to see it and value. Insurance companies vary in how they do this.
Week or two for an offer is not unusual.
