Second-hand Surface Pro 3's  are going a lot cheaper as the 4 is incoming.

Same here, but as I have a Surface Pro 3 i5, 128GB I cannot possibly go there.  War on an enormous scale will break out.

How do you find the surface as a tablet?

As far as I am concerned it is the best laptop/tablet I have ever owned.  Love that I can just rip the keyboard away and it is a tablet.  It is fast, intuitive and incredibly useful. Much more than any iPad.  However the Kindle reader app is awful (my opinion) and therefore I continue to read books on my iPad.  PDF and documents are a pleasure on the SP3 because of the size of the screen.
The other apps I use are all fast and easy to use. I cannot fault it.
As a laptop it is even better than any other laptop I have owned.  And I have had a few.....

Oh and do not forget the Surface Pen.  That is a gem and cannot praise it high enough.  Makes taking notes and editing docs on Word 2016 a doddle.

And Windows 10 is a VERY different proposition to XP, Win 7 and to a surprisingly large degree Windows 8(.1). I'm sure you'll be right at home in no time.

I ordered mine yesterday, i5 8gb 256gb mainly to replace the iPad that I use for work, mainly in meetings for note taking but also when traveling where I sometimes take the Mac book pro too.

I'll keep the Mac for photos etc or maybe let the wife have it as it's much faster then hers, however the iPad Air will go.

Really looking forward to it but does anyone know when I will receive? States ships by the 12th with 3-5 day delivery, surely not?
