If it has the same specs as the Vive Pro and wireless and standalone, then I'd say it's a bargain. But highly unlikely...

Let's see what today reveals   2019 has turned into a great year for VR regardless.

So optional add on for Steam VR tracking! Wow didn’t see that coming. Maybe that’s the removable face plate. Take off the cameras and plug in LH sensors instead.

Overall I think HTC has done a great job. It’s a great option to have. This is a major competitor to RiftS imo. Less of a competitor to Index because Index has Knuckles and Inside our Tracking.

All we need now are reviews to show how those cameras track compared to the RiftS.

Just a thought. Do the Cosmos controllers have LH sensors built in? Because you might have to buy Knuckles if you opt for LH Tracking.

@snowdog Looks like you were wrong about HTC abandoning LH Tracking. Here’s what HTC had to say.

“We currently don’t have a plan to abandon SteamVR Tracking in any way, shape, or form,” said Dan O’Brien, HTC’s VR general manager for the Americas. “Valve is a very good partner and we’ll continue to enjoy the benefits of that partnership.”

agreed... however the ability to augment with base stations is a nice touch (however at that point you are in index price range and that has knuckles so.................)

I definitely want to check one of these out, also would like to experience the 110 degrees... what is the official VIVE FOV?  i think 110 is a bit higher than that.

$700, I am guessing that will equate to £700 however the £ is so weak right now it may be closer to £750

Upload VR had 30 minutes with Cosmos. Here’s what they said about tracking.

“Generally speaking, tracking felt comparable to Rift S for the most part with two exceptions. The first is a positive in favor of Cosmos and that’s the extra camera on the underside of the headset pointed down. Because of this camera’s placement I could let my hands dangle by my side or hold them down low without any tracking issues at all. Sometimes on Rift S (and especially sometimes on Quest) leaving my hands near my waist for too long causes issues.”

£699 on HTC's site as predicted by Argos

VIVE Cosmos - A new way of PC VR | VIVETM

Pity about the LCD panels though. Yes they're better subpixels, but the colour is going to suck.

Edit: and the wireless support is an add-on. Sigh....

Here’s a picture of the external LH Tracking plate coming in 2020.
