I find Knuckles last 8 hours off a full charge but you can plug them in and carry on forever.

I think HTC have made a mistake not using internal batteries especially if they only last 2-3 hours. You can’t plug them while you play by the looks of it.

Battery life is really going to depend on the game. Anything with overactive haptics can kill my Vive's wands in a couple of hours.

To each their own.  I am renowned for my awful taste, but i think they look pretty cool

IF the lighting helps tracking then i think it is a fair price to pay in terms of reduced battery life.  if it turns out to be a pointless gimmick, then tanking the battery life so much to power a light is an awful decision.

supporting plug and play and using swappable batters do not have to be an either or decision.

Had HTC of wanted they could have given the option to use these things wired whilst you play as well as having removable batteries. (the xbox1 pad allows this for instance).

I know we disagree on this - and that is fine - but why anyone would choose non replaceable batteries over hot swappable ones goes over my head. surely in this day and age everyone has an AA battery charger so where is the downside?

Personally I'd take an internal lipo over rechargeable AAs any day of the week. Just plug into any USB charger and in about 30-45 minutes you're done. After a few hours in VR I'd need a break in any case.

@huxley People pay way more to have far worse tattooed on their body. Lol

@MikeKay1976 I just prefer the no hassle approach of plugging in my controllers and leaving them to charge over night or playing while they’re still plugged in. It just seems more work taking out the batteries, taking them to your charger swapping them over then taking you fresh batteries back to your controller, plugging them in etc.

I do agree having a usb type play and charge option / plug in and charge is a great thing to have.

I had such a thing for my xbox 360pad, if it is deemed popular enough perhaps someone will release one for cosmos.

Of course they're competing with the Rift S. They're all PC VR headsets. They each have their own storefronts. They're all competing on those fronts.

Unfortunately only one of the three is going to sell well due to the daft pricing that the other two have set, and that's bad for VR as a whole because more headsets on heads means more support from developers.

If HTC and Valve hadn't gone crazy with their pricing we'd have better support going forward from developers and most importantly publishers.

We're now going to have to wait for Microsoft to adopt VR for the NextBox before we start to see AAA titles from the big boys.

But WMR was as cheap as chips by far and that never gained traction. If price was the main factor why aren’t all Devs releasing on that format? The reality is people would rather pay more for better specs or more features in the same way people pay more for Sony TVs over Toshiba.

Valve chose to release a no compromise HMD first and counsel drop the price accordingly dependant on demand.
