For the moment, I unplug the aerial lead when I put the TV into standby, we've not had any problems when we switch the set back on doing this, plugging in the aerial at that time. I now use the standby/on button on the top of the side panel for the aux connections, so I press that & do the aerial at the same time.
On the Toshiba support page for firmware downloads they are continuing to only have the 2.1.77.0 version available, when the USB sticks arrive, check the paper work for a later version than that.
The person at Toshiba I spoke to told me to have patience with them as they were working on the problem & had to be sure they get it right, perhaps s88hon should ask the friend for any info.

Called out Comet, the man said "Nothing wrong with TV, it's another company over air update causing problem" He would not say what company though only a large one.

Well I can confirm that my 46xv635, after a week or so of refusing to come out of standby has been fine for the last 3 or 4 days. I have not changed anything.
Is it certain models ?

According to the DTG over-air download schedule website the Panasonic one should have finished on Friday 8th July at 9am. I reverted to standby mode after that on Saturday & it would not come on as it should.
I am going to purchase those remote operated sockets, as mentioned by earlier posts.
I have a plug-in power consumption meter, & as I was fiddling about with the plugs, I tried it on the Toshiba. It showed that in standby it was consuming 17 watts, the manual says it should be less than 1 watt. Can someone else try this for comparision. I used it on 5 other bits of kit that stay on standby & ended up with a total of 45 watts

45 watts on our tariff works out to £5.50 a month!

Leave it for 10 minutes and it goes into a lower power standby mode on certain TVs.

I know on my XV635 when it goes into standby it takes a reasonable amount then drops further after a while.

That remote socket has paid for itself a number of times over anyway as I have a Freesat HD box, Bluray, Xbox 360, Wireless Access Point, Revo R3600, Wii and Panasonic Home cinema all plugges into it ..........
