if you peer down the back of the the set when in standby. you should see a green led that stays lit for 10/20 mins while its serching for updates then it goes off and the power comsumption drops. if the set locks up the led stays on and it wont turn on with the remote.

wow thank goodness for this thread. My TV was doing the same standby stuck dance again and my wife was getting annoyed. I revisited this thread and what do I find, many people having same issues. (I did take part in this thread way back when the first standby issue was evident)

So from reading your comments prob best to unplug the aerial as I watch sky. Also mine was going onto the adult channel, then it started going to top up tv channel.

I had booked an engineer from my extended warranty company to come out Friday to repair this but what you have said above makes me think I shall cancel.

I had emailed Toshiba and got a reply saying they were looking into this and will get back asap. That was about two weeks ago.

Also I remember last time the USB stick came well before the firmware upgrade was posted on their website.

If anyone does get the USB firmware it would be good if they could post it somewhere for others to try and download.

I downloaded & unzipped the new firmware but I have 2 icons from the unzip, one is a folder symbol eutv9as4 the other is a file eutv9as4.prg. Which one do I copy to the USB stick?

Copy both the folder and the file onto the USB stick.
Don't forget to make sure the USB stick is formatted as FAT not FAT32 or it won't be recognised.
Oh and once you've done the press menu and power for ten seconds (step 4) it takes a short while (five to ten seconds?) before the green and amber lights switch on (step 5) so don't panic!

I've spoke to Toshiba and if you have registered the issue with them they will send the firmware update on a USB stick to you but as they have a "few" to do it may take awhile.

As Varkanoid has already pointed out the firmware is also available to download via www.toshiba-om.net and follow the firmware links. Most models have the same firmware but one model range has its own version:

2.1.77.2 for:

AV 62*DB, 63*DB
LV 66*DB, 67*DB, 68*DB
RV 62*DB, 63*DB, 66*DB, 67*DB, 68*DB
XV 62*DB, 63*DB
ZV 62*DB, 63*DB

2.2.77.2 for:

SV 67*DB, 68*DB

Actually the instructions you have given above are not quite correct for each model. So not exactly sure that you are giving out the correct info. Its best to use the instructions on the website that is shown alongside your firmware upgrade. I used them for my particular model and it worked fine.

Just as an example your No.7 does not work for my TV. In my instance I need to hold down MENU then POWER for it to load the firmware.

Plus you do not get any messages onscreen for my model all the indications are by LED colour.

Spoke to Toshiba, seems the version on the web site and the version they sent me on USB is packaged differently so different installation routine.

My mistake, so removed instructions.
