I updated the firmware on my TV some time ago. The reason was that the TV would appear to lock up (see earlier threads) but could be fixed by stopping it checking for over the air updates, but 2.1.77.2 was released to fix the problem. I had a similar problem with the download on to a USB stick so I contacted Toshiba. They sent me a USB stick with the files already loaded (they may still do this if you call them, customer service is very good). The instructions that came with the stick were different from whats on the Toshiba website. I have given a summary below but it sounds like this is roughly what you are doing except for the factory resets.
The instruction I have say.....
Reset the TV to its factory settings and retune the TV.
Ensure the TV is switched on.
Plug in the USB stick.
A firmware update information message should appear on the screen.(if not, unplug the stick and plug it in again)
Use the right arrow key and select "ok"
The firmware update process will begin. (Don't touch anything while its updating,)
When its complete, a message will appear saying its complete and asking to remove the stick so remove the stick
The TV will go into standby and then turn itself on. It may take a few minutes, don't touch it.
To complete the update you must reset the TV. This returns the TV to its factory settings and you need to retune again. |
