TBH your phone is a model from a couple years ago now, most phones will stop getting software updates, and very slowly get security updates, My Honor 8 hasn't had one for ages, My Mrs p20lite is also behind what My Nokia is currently on.

But google can block their phone from the play store and their services which is not part of the AOSP.

Google have already confirmed this will not happen for current devices. The same thing happened to ZTE just over a year ago, and yes if you side load the play store still functions on these devices.

It is worth noting Amazon devices are not google certified and also use a custom version of AOSP to create their FireOS devices, and yes play services or apps which do not require safteynet still work if side loaded.

Huawei have been added to the USA Business and Industry entity List, Google are complying with this by not doing business with Huawei, Anything beyond this is speculation.

cheers

So the SD association have now added them also, is only getting worse for them, current phones will still work but I guess new phones won't be officially supported by the SD association, if they can continue to fit SD slots, I guess built in will be the way forward for them.

Huawei have been using their own nano SD cards for a while, so I can't see it affecting them much.

This story is clearly about Trump politics but is snowballing out of control.  First Trump claims security risk but now states Huawei could be part of a US/China trade deal.  They are either a security risk or they aren't.

However, this ban is now being extended to cover anything where there may be Huawei components but American intellectual property inside a product e.g. a router.  The technology component sector is hugely complicated and Trumps decision is now impacting billions of consumers globally - totally ridiculous.

It's being reported today that in some areas the P20 trade-in price has dropped as low as £50 caused by consumer panic selling.  MusicMagpie stating trade-in enquiries have jumped 154% in the last week alone.

Trump's actions are also providing a big helping hand to Apple - Trump's America first policy.

I have had a Huawei P9 lite for nearly three years. It has been a great phone but with only 16GB internal memory (I also have a 48GB micro memory card) I wanted a new phone.
Yesterday bought the P30 Lite from Auchan Luxembourg. They had a promotion of €359 discounted to €319.90 with 148GB internal memory and space for my memory card.
Very happy, HUGE screen. Thank you Huawei.
Who needs to spend between £600 and £1000.
America is having ego issues. They don’t like NOT being top dog.

I bought an Honor 8X a couple of months ago and as a cheap phone it is brilliant. I now hate Donald Trump and would like to be able to take action against him for the possible loss of function of my beautiful phone and for anguish he has caused me personally. I hope Huawei does not give in to his bullying tactics and continues to make great phones.

Really? Get a grip, there is a lot more going on here than some bullying...
