First step in weight loss is will power and a want to change what will be many years of habit and lifestyle.
What you eat will make as much of a difference as the exercise you do. Try to eat lots of protein as it low in fat and carbs and will keep you fuller for longer.
Sugar is a big cause for weight gain. So much hidden sugar in our foods. Try to eat as much natural food as possible, if it's been processed or made in a factory it's probably got a lot of sugar in it.
Cut out any fizzy drinks you have. Water water and more water. It will also fill you up.
Snack on nuts, almonds, cashews etc, fruit in a little Greek yogurt makes a nice dessert. A banana and and Apple in the afternoon will give you a much better energy boost than a chocolate bar.
Cut out bread, scrap the sandwiches and make a salad for lunch instead. I'll roast a chicken on a Sunday and when it s cooked and cooled I'll take all the chicken off the bone and keep in a bowl in the fridge. This makes it really quick in the morning to make lunch with the chicken, some baby leaf salad, rocket etc, tomatoes, fresh beetroot, avocado, cucumber, pepper, or anything else you would get from the fruit and veg aisles. Half a mozzarella ball is also another favourite of mine in the salad. Cut out salad creams and mayo and get some good quality extra virgin olive oil. Spend a bit more as you will notice a difference, a decent sized bottle will last many weeks. Preparation is key when it comes to saving time and making it easy.
Plus homemade soup from the chicken bones is also super tasty, really easy and much better than shop bought. Done right this can make several lunches and soups for not much money.
Make breakfast a big meal, get up ten minutes earlier. I love scrambled eggs with salmon, smoked salmon is a lot quicker as you just serve from the pack. To bulk it up I chuck in some spinach or curly kale to the egg and I will also reheat some cubed sweet potatoes which I would hve precooked. Again this can just be chucked in the pan with the eggs. I'll often also have half an avacado for some good fats.
Be prepared for some tough times and days where you will want to give up. Cutting back or even better out sugar will be tough for the first 30 days as your body will crave it. It's can be as hard as cigarettes to give up. Focus on why you are doing this. Each day you eat well will be a day forward on your path to a healthier future.
Most of all good luck. |
