Not through this thread but I did find this and ordered some.  Chocolate flavour and it's fine so far.  It smells a bit 'musty' when mixed, but tastes fine.

It's the first powder I've bought in many years, so I got a bit carried away and ordered two tubs.  They're huge.  It will last me for years...

If I was to take in the recommended amount of protein (when training hard) through food only, I'd be bankrupt! I personally would prefer to eat real food but the shakes are cheap, convenient and effective.

Ive recently started up on shakes and I mainly use them as a breakfast. Ive never been one to eat in the mornings and pretty much always skipped breakfast. For me, the shakes are a good substitute as I can easily stomach them at 6AM when Im going off to work, and Im ready for some fruit or something by about 9 oclock which I would normally have never had.

I think I might take a punt on some of this stuff.

You are actually correct.
No one needs to use protein drinks.
The problem is to get over 200g of protein per day requires a lot of foot, which can also mean a lot of calories, fats, carbs etc. this due to most foods having a fairly small amount of proteins in them. It could also mean a lot of repetative foods too.
I will have around 40g of protein drink for my breakfast, that would be a lot of food. I will also eat foods with proteins too like a tin of sardines mid morning to help to reach my goal of around 200g.

Taken delivery of a 5kg tub of the olympus protein shake power today. I think it tastes nice and its a lot of protein for £30. Its a recommended from me. Got the strawberry and cream flavour and think the flavour is nice too. I blend it then leave it to stand for 5 or ten mins before shaking again and drinking, if you dont wait it seems like the power doesnt dissolve into the water quite as well, but that seems the same for all shakes.

I just buy a 5kg of unflavoured whey and a bottle of flavdrops toffees nice every other month maybe more.

Basics cottage cheese is really cheap

Quark with toffee flavdrops soooo nice

Mixed nuts & raisons

Greek yogurt

I usually buy 500g lean beef mince on a Monday aldi just over £2 and make 4 chilli con carne dishes out of that along with the usual stuff thrown in.

Make protein flapjacks every week to snack on at work

Eggs for breakfast box of 30 for around £2.80
