When MSG just won't bring the boys to your yard, try smack

Chinese restaurants shut down for seasoning food with opium

That's probably why I'm not that keen, only ever had it from take aways  so as you say its all made from the base sauce. There's an Indian restaurant in our village, I might have to pop in one night for a meal.

Indian food doesn't have to be particularly bad for you. Just a case of choosing the right things.

That said, I tend to choose the worse things for you.

For years I preferred Chinese food until I discovered a local Indian restaurant which blows any Chinese meal out of the water.

One thing I do find with Indian and Chinese food is that I need a minimum of three dishes, excluding rice for it to be properly enjoyable.

I really don't see the point in getting a single dish with rice. It's boring.

I love Chinese, I get mine delivered from the place where I used to live. I'm out of the delivery area so have to pay extra. I order so often I just tell them my name and they know my order

It can be bad, if it's made with Ghee and cream and stuff.
But you get plenty of indian food that's very low fat and healthy.

There's a creeping rise in 'Tapas' style Indian restaurants, so people are coming round to your way of thinking.
I prefer lots of little tastes to loads of one too.
Hence my love of Meze.

That's the lazy end of the market and, as you say, they're the ones that taste samey and bland.
If you get a place that cooks the curry 'fresh', amazing flavours.

That would be the takeaways then I suppose. The restaurant in the village does takeaways too so might not be the best place then.

On the other side of the coin, if Indian is very samey, Chinese is incredibly variant.  Every time I order Kung Po Chicken I get a completely different dish from different restaurants.

Sometimes the chicken is battered, sometimes it is even crispy.  Sometimes the sauces is spicy, sometimes not.  Sometimes there is peanuts, sometime it has orange flavour to it.  Totally random.
