@blue max all a bit condescending I think. Expecting women to join an AV website as it has cookery? That what women want? Why not have fluffy kittens and scatter cushions as well? That's what they like isn't it?

What would make you join Mumsnet? A war film forum? That make you leave here and join there? I mean that's what all blokes like.

But why did you join here in the first place? What was your first post?

It wasn't considered a female subject, but unisex. It was the subject of a thread and a suggestion that was made. Anyone landing on it from a search would find similar posts. If they came into general chat, they might be put off by some of the more male oriented subjects. In that respect, it may be less intimidating to females. But all are welcome of course.

But if you read the very first post, I had said all this.

I think Blue Max is trying to broaden the experience and bring in a wider audience.

If you enjoy three meals a day, then cookery is a big part of your life. It is true this is a forum that deals with A/V stuff, but I notice a big part of your activity lies in the Lifestyle forums which of course is not A/V related.

All along I was going to vote no. Glad I held off as I have changed my opinion. I cannot see what harm it would do. If there is enough interest to have an E-cig sub forum then surely there would be enough chat to sustain a food and drink related one.
I am sure a lot of us here like our food or drink to the extent that we could all get some suggestions or new ideas. Dont think it would bring anyone in to the site specifically but the more content then surely the more chance of holding onto people.
Is it hard to set up and trial?

With well over 100 forums & sub forums I think the number needs severely cutting back before watering it down further. But that's just my opinion. I noticed earlier that there's a quadcopter forum with all of six threads in it, none of which have been added to for over six weeks. So if that's valid...

Thank you for posting Werewolfs. Appreciate the candid view. I wonder how GC started its life. Anyone around when it was first conceived?

I must have been a member for probably seven or eight years before I even ventured over here.

There is certainly something special about it. It can be a tough crowd for sure, so not for the feint of heart. If there is a flaw in your arguments, it will be wedged apart. Certainly keeps you on your toes!

Was thinking the same as @Werewolfs before posting & reading his reply (E-cig) and agree.

E-cigs are gadgets, and this is a gadget forum.

I'd agree that having some forums is a very odd decision. It's not like they will even attract new visitors to see what the fuss is about. But I guess they don't do any harm either. You either visit it or don't.

I really hope this does get a consideration. Compared to those forums, it is certain be considered a success.
