The site as a whole. As I posted before, there are precious few cooking related threads in GC anyway. Certainly not enough to sustain yet another forum IMO.

Mods help. Just interested
How does a sub forum get picked to be one?
When is it deemed to have enough traffic?

Could people not want to post due to having too many so as not take over GC with it. Not saying they are. But I would think twice before posting as regards say alchohol if there was already a thread or two.  If you know what I mean

Unlikely. You only have to look at the number of threads that ask a question that has previously been asked many times. Variations on "What mattress" is one that comes to mind.
Two ways AFAIK. Either Stuart takes it upon himself to create one, as is his prerogative obviously. Or the members canvas for one as has happened here. Previously 100 votes in favour was deemed the tipping point for creating a new forum, don't know if that's still the case. But even that is no guarantee of success as the ghost town that is the Musicians Forum will testify...

That's what I understood too. I don't know how to poll the whole site, but probably most people who are interested in AV have little interest in GC or indeed food. Or at least to make them bother to frequent the specific forum. Were any forums created after 100 votes were actually canvassed I wonder?

Calm down everyone

I've asked Stuart what he thinks.

The Musicians Forum, that's why I referenced it.

Musical Instrument Section here at AVF | AVForums

Books as well IIRC but I can't find the thread for that. Neither were canvassed site wide, just in GC.

Which seems entirely sensible as the interest for them was generated from within GC.

The drone/copter forum was created as it is anticipated that it is up and coming.

I think we all know that food is unlikely to hit a major upsurge.
