Yes, a buzz/hum/hiss sound.

I'm glad I've got them beef cheeks in my casserole dish now.

When you put the pictures up I was going to suggest you still had time to tip it in, good job I didn't.

Just to be sure, when you plug it in and power it up do you get the electronic "warble" and then before selecting anything you get the buzz/hum/hiss ?

I did think of tipping it in.

Plugged in the lead, switched on the plug at the mains. Beep, display lights up and hiss/hum is on. Switch off at wall, hiss/hum continues for as second or so. Like capacitors are discharging.

I've logged the return with Amazon now anyway. Just got to drop it at newsagents for return. As it's a 'fulfilled by amazon' they will only refund when received although online chat bloke said it may get refunded when scanned.

@sergiup I'll be interested to know if you get the same noise as I did.

Thanks for the heads up @MrSossidge, I'm working tomorrow until lunchtime or so, but I'll check when I get back home (as long as it gets delivered).

I'll double check mine once I'm done cooking in case it's a noise on power up thing.

I did leave it for a few minutes and the noise did trace back to where the power lead plugged into the unit.

I'll probably order another one though once the refund is received.
