As I said - starting slowly again - still cycling/RPM classes for now as I still have a few sportive cycles later in the year to do.

Anyway todays workout.

5 x 5 x 35kg squat
5 x 5 x 20kg OHP
2 x 5 x 60kg deads

Onwards and upwards.

Thank you. I've watched the vids quite a few times and keep learning new things from them.
I never really appreciated before how technical weight lifting actually is. I'm surprised I haven't polaxed myself yet..
Think I might need to get some proper tuition for a while so I get the feel of the right technique..

As I expected I felt a little tight after training on Monday having been off this for a week and a half, so left a 2 day gap and trained again today:

All lifts felt OK. The first 2-3 OHPs felt easy, but by the 4-5 I started to feel it. I've built these up to 50kg a couple of times, before holidays etc and knocking them back 10%. They are definitely the lift I struggle with the most.

I can believe how much easier the DLs are with liquid chalk. If you've not used it before I recommend you give it a go. Next to no mess and loads of grip!

Not hit the gym all week, suffering from a slight stomach bug. Got the app now so will integrate it's use into my lifts. Next planned session is Sunday so hopefully I'll be clear to go. Got one hand clean and jerk planned and cheat curl to do for our league.

This was today's workout after work in the work gym. Strangely, not too difficult! There doesn't seen to be any rhythm or reason as to when it's easier or harder.
That was followed by a 400m dash through town, in my suit and winter overcoat, Zigg zagging through people (who see me then wander across in front of me) carrying my massive and heavy sports bag.....

Managed to get some good form on the rows today so I was happy with them and found the bench press the hardest, but the bench feels narrow and a little unstable so I constantly feel like I'm either gong to fall off it sideways and I'm constantly fighting the wobbling if the bar.

Much prefer my proper gym...

I took Charlt's advice and used straps for the first time today. Bought earlier in the year but never used it before. Watched one youtube vid on how to's and finished 5x5 on deads with 120kg. Cheap, easy to use and takes the focus away from slipping bar to actual lift...I'm a convert now. Looking forward to next 5x5 session with 130kg

nice one - I used to use straps when lifting upto 160kg - but with this routine I haven;t had to use them (yet), and had a good workout before...

Squat
5x5
91
Oh Press
5x5
47.5
Deadlift
1x5
110

I had watched this video which is good for motivation - as the guy who does th kettlebell class was there - as he's also a personal trainer etc - and was wioth mark - he also does kettlebells of a monday and is twice as good as me... but doesn't have faith in himself and isn;t going to the competition on saturday...shame...
