If it was totally paid for by donations, and is completely sustainable, what does it have to do with the government, or queenie, for that matter? It sounds more like a commercial venture to me.
But I suspect that's not it. More likely, it will be subsidised by the taxpayers, and crewed and maintained by the navy. And all so that a handful of toffs can mess about on the high seas in an expensive yacht and relive the days when Britain was master of the waves.
Utter waste of public money, if you ask me. If a bunch of toffs want to buy a yacht, nothing is stopping them. Except that they don't - they want us to buy them a yacht.
I'd rather see any spare £60m go towards other community projects. |
